Anticonvulsant drug Topamax: instructions for use
Topamax is produced (the instruction is also indicated) in the form of gelatin capsules, which contain a topiramate in volume of twenty five or fifty milligrams as the main component. Auxiliary ingredients are cellulose acetate, sugar granules and povidone. The composition of the capsule shell includes substances such as sodium lauryl sulfate, gelatin, sorbitan monolaurate, water, titanium dioxide and ink.
Take capsules Topamax categorically prohibits people with hypersensitivity to topiramate or an allergic reaction to any other components contained in the composition. It is also not recommended to prescribe this anticonvulsant to women bearing a baby. The list of strict contraindications includes the lactation period, and the age of up to two years. With extreme caution, people with nephrourolysis, hepatic or renal insufficiency should take this medicine.
As for possible adverse reactions provoked by the use of Topamax, first of all, it is necessary to distinguish such conditions as dizziness, attention disturbance, paresthesia, apathy, fatigue, irritability and drowsiness. In addition, there may be a decrease in appetite, lethargy, cognitive disorders, hypoesthesia, dysarthria, tremor, disorientation and emotional lability. Discomfort in the stomach, gastritis, dry mouth, bleeding gums, glossodynia and constipation can also occur in people taking Topamax capsules. These pills can cause muscle cramps, the development of myalgia or arthralgia, fever and difficulty breathing.
