Plantain. Useful properties and recipes

Medicinal plant plantain - a herbaceous perennial, which has a short root system and a chic rosette of the root leaves. Flowers are collected in five centimeters cylinder-like spikelet. The usual habitat of plantain are flood meadows, but it also grows along roads.

For medicinal purposes, both folk and traditional medicine, leaves and seeds are used.

Plantain, useful properties

The leaves contain:

• phytoncides.

The seeds contain:

• saponins;

• Oleanolic acid.

Useful properties of the plant have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and secretory effect. They are used for diseases of respiratory organs accompanied by eruptions of mucus. Leaves are effectively used for chronic catarrh of the lungs, with diarrhea, colic, meteorism, duodenal ulcer and other gastrointestinal diseases.

Plantain, useful properties in broths and infusions of folk medicine

Infusion of seeds is used to normalize the activity of the stomach (constipation, inflammation). For its preparation, the crushed seeds (10 grams) are poured with 1/2 cup of boiling water. The mixture is insisted for 30 minutes and filtered. The received medicine is taken for 1 reception, for a day is taken 3 times. For each reception a fresh portion is prepared.

Infusion, similar to the previous one, is taken as an expectorant. 10 gr. The seeds are poured over with a full glass of boiling water. Use a tablespoon three times a day. Getting into the digestive tract, the infusion envelops the mucous membrane, protecting it from irritants (food, drink). Taken in large quantities, the infusion has a pervasive effect, because it is recommended for chronic constipation.

The extract, prepared from the roots, is used for chronic and non-infectious diseases of the kidneys and the genitourinary system. This drug is effective in the bites of flying and crawling insects, as well as vipers (ingested). Preparations derived from psyllium, excellent appetite triggers, promote red blood cell growth in the blood, reduce the level of "bad" cholesterol, have an antisclerotic effect.

Plantain. Useful properties of leaves

In traditional medicine, juice made from leaves of plantain is widely used. It is recommended to take it with ulcers and an anacid gastritis with low acidity, chronic and acute colitis. 1 tbsp. A spoonful of ready-made pharmacy juice plantain diluted a quarter cup of cooled boiling water. Eat for a month, 20 minutes before meals three times a day.

Plantain is known to many as wound-healing and blood-restoring remedy. With success it is used for cuts, abrasions, abscesses and nasal bleeding. To do this, attach the plantain (clean mashed leaf) to the sore spot. Crushed fresh leaves are effectively used for wet eczema, edema caused by insect bites, and for furunculosis.
