The designers took a number of measures aimed at reducing the weight of the car, so that in its segment it is considered to be the lightest (1409 kg). At the same time, the manufacturer's representatives say that the main advantage of the Nissan Altima is not the acceleration time and not the speed. The economy of the model comes to the fore here. Indeed, the declared fuel consumption in the suburban mode of this car is only 6.29 liters per hundred, which is noticeably less in comparison with many similar models.
Despite the weight reduction, which was discussed a little earlier, the overall size of the car only increased. The wheelbase here is used the same as the predecessor, but the front and rear pillars of the model have become wider. Due to it, the width and length of the Nissan Altima has increased by almost 2.5 centimeters, while the height has decreased by the same value. There is a shock absorber front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. In the standard version of the car, instead of LED headlights, searchlights are installed.
Most of the changes appeared in the cabin. Now inside the car will be used pleasant to the touch elements, made of soft plastic. Nissan Altima also received new seats that provide passengers and driver with comfortable accommodation. The Nissan Altima Coupe, which was launched in 2008, deserves special mention. At the same time, her debut took place two years earlier as part of a car dealership in Los Angeles. The coupe uses a shorter wheelbase, compared with the sedan, as well as reduced luggage space. In the version of this car in 2012, the manufacturer has envisaged the possibility of purchasing a separate package of options aimed at improving comfort. Among them, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, leather trim steering wheel, automatic turn-off and turn on the headlights and others. The choice of engines remained the same as that of the sedan. Unfortunately, this model is produced only for the US market.
