Everyone knows that the use of antibiotics can not only benefit, but also a noticeable harm to the body. But, at the same time, there are situations when it is simply impossible to do without such drugs. One of the most famous means is "Tsefepim".

The injections with this drug and its analogs are rather painful, but when the question is about one's own health, it all goes to the last plane.

Analogues of "Cefepime" and directly the drug is used in the following cases:

  • Inflammatory and infectious diseases that were caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the use of the drug;

  • As a result of infection of burns or wounds;

It is important to remember that antibiotics are not medicines and are used only in addition to basic therapy.

In this case, the drug "Tsefepim", like other potent and good antibiotics, can only be used for the doctor's prescription. In pharmacies, it is sold exclusively if a prescription is available.

Method of application of the drug "Cefepime"

The drug is injected into the body. "Cefepime" injections are of two types: intramuscular and intravenous. The second option is used less often and in most cases only for patients who have life-threatening and serious infections, as well as infants up to 2 months of age.

Analogues of "Tsefepima" and the original drug in most cases are injected deep into the muscle and very slowly (the process can take up to 5 minutes).

Dosage of the drug

The doctor appoints the necessary dosage of the drug "Tsefepim" to each patient individually, taking into account the peculiarities of the organism, the severity of the disease, the functioning of the kidneys and so on.

The approximate dosage of the antibiotic will be as follows:

  1. For adults and children weighing more than 40 kilograms, the drug is administered every 12 hours for 0.5-1 grams.
  2. In case of severe infections, the dose of the drug increases to 2 grams every 12 hours.
  3. For children weighing up to 40 kilograms, the dose will be 50 milligrams per kilogram of weight every 12 hours.
  4. In bacterial meningitis, an antibiotic is injected every 8 hours with 50 milligrams of the drug per kilogram of weight.
  5. If there are violations in the functioning of the kidneys, the dose of the drug and the frequency of its use are calculated individually, based on the results of the analyzes.

The average course of antibiotic use is 10 days. But in the presence of severe infectious diseases, it can be prolonged.

Contraindications to the use of the drug

The use of the drug is prohibited in the presence of individual intolerance or hypersensitivity to one or several components of the drug.

In addition, the use of "Cefepime" for treatment during pregnancy, lactation, and also children up to 12 years of age is possible only if the expected benefit from taking exceeds possible risks. In such cases, dosage is selected based on the characteristics of the body of a woman or a child.

Possible side effects of the drug

Any, even the best antibiotics, can cause some side effects.

Cefepime can cause: headaches, dizziness, seizures, insomnia, swelling, anemia, coughing and chest pains, dyspnea, nausea and vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, irregular functioning of the kidneys, increased sweating, allergic reactions and so on.

Despite the variety of negative symptoms, they are not found so often and, as a rule, violations are observed only in one of the systems (gastrointestinal tract, respiratory, urogenital, cardiovascular, and so on).

In case of occurrence of adverse reactions by the doctor the decision on change of a dosage of a preparation or search of its analogues is accepted.

The use of "Cefepime" in combination with other medicines

It is forbidden to simultaneously use the analogues of "Cefepime" and the original preparation to avoid exceeding the maximum dose of the active substance.

In addition, it is undesirable to use any other antibiotics in parallel with the drug. If nevertheless it is necessary, each antibiotic is introduced separately, mixing them in one syringe is strictly prohibited.

It is forbidden to mix in one "Cefepime" syringe with heparin, as well as other antimicrobial medicines.

You can not combine the drug with a solution of Metronidazole. If the use of "Metronidazole" is required, the infusion system is first washed with "Cefepime". Usually this happens during surgical operations to protect against possible infections.

Reviews about the drug "Tsefepim"

What do those patients who were treated with the drug "Tsefepim" say? The reviews once again confirm the effectiveness and wide range of the means. In this case, as shown by patients, this antibiotic is not prescribed immediately upon admission to the hospital department. First, more "weak" antibiotics are prescribed, and only if they do not bring the desired effect, "Cefepime" goes into battle. The price of the drug also can not but rejoice, especially considering its multifunctionality and strength of action.

Once again it is worth recalling that the injections of "Tsefepima" can not be carried out without the appointment of a doctor! It is a potent drug and, in case of misuse, can not only not bring benefits, but also significantly harm healthy organs!

The most famous analogues of "Tsefepima"

Virtually all medical drugs have analogs, and "Cefepime" in this regard is no exception. The word "analogs" in this case means antibiotics that have the same non-proprietary name as the main drug. So, the main analogs of the antibiotic "Cefepime":

  • Maxipim (France);
  • "Megapim" (India);
  • "Newapim" (India);
  • "Excipim" (Iran);
  • "Quadroceph" (Ukraine);
  • "Maxinort" (Ukraine);
  • "Hipim" (India);
  • Kefpim (India);
  • "Abipim" (India).

All these preparations are united by one important detail: the main active substance in each of them is cefepime (hence the name of the original drug). They have a similar type of action and differ in most cases only at the cost of the drug. Therefore, it makes no sense to consider all the analogues of "Tsefipim", indications and contraindications, the way of application, and so on. Just stop at one of them - "Abipime".

"Abipim": indications for use, contraindications, method of administration, side effects

So, what is the drug "Abipim"? Instruction for use says that it is a white powder for injections.

It is used to treat infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, urinary system, skin and soft tissues, as well as gynecological infections and bacterial meningitis.

Contraindicated in cases of individual intolerance of the components of the drug.

Side effects after the application are very rare and can manifest as allergic reactions, fever, diarrhea or constipation, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, colitis, dyspnea, cough with accompanying pain in the chest, headaches and dizziness, insomnia, a condition without reason Anxiety, increased sweating and so on.

The effect of the drug on the kidneys is also minimal, so a violation of their proper functionality after taking can indicate renal failure.

During pregnancy and lactation, "Abipim" is applied only in cases where the expected benefit exceeds possible negative consequences.

The drug is approved for use by children of at least 1 month of age. But this is done in cases of extreme necessity.

The use of the drug is not compatible with the use of any other groups of antibiotics.

According to the method of application, the analogues of "Cefepime" are no different from the main drug. And this means that antibiotics are injected into the body with the help of intramuscular or intravenous injections. The standard dosage and frequency of injections also do not differ at all from those that involve the use of "Cefepime" (see above).

Which is better: "Cefepime" or its analogues?

There is nothing surprising in this question, and it is quite logical. Only an unambiguous answer to it is not. In the composition of the original preparation and its analogs, the same basic active substance is cefepime. And this means that the principle of action of medicines will be similar. The main difference is in the concentration of this substance itself: in "Tsefepime" it is more, which means that the drug itself has a stronger effect on the body. On the one hand, it's good, because the treatment will be faster and more effective. And on the other hand, the negative impact on healthy organs will also increase and, accordingly, the possibility of allergic reactions and other side effects will increase. Analogues act on the body more gently.

It is due to mild action and a very rare occurrence of any side effects (in all, in 0.1-1% of cases), the use of analogues is already solved from the age of two months of the child, while treatment with "Cefepime" is highly undesirable up to 12 years of age .

Another aspect is the spectrum of action of the drugs. Analogues of "Tsefapim" are effective only in the treatment of infectious diseases, while "Tsefepim" itself shows excellent results in combating various inflammatory processes.

In any case, the decision on the need to apply this or that drug will be taken by the attending physician, based on the symptomatology and severity of the disease.
