The drug "Bactroban". Analogues of "Bactroban" and reviews about them

"Bactroban" refers to bacteriostatic and bactericidal agents. This is a topical antibiotic. The drug copes with all sorts of skin infections. Dermatological cream is produced for use in the infection of skin, wound infections and all kinds of bacterial and fungal skin lesions, and there is also a nasal ointment called Bactroban. Analogues can be considered as similar in the spectrum of action, and similar in composition (according to the main active substance).

Description of the preparation

"Bactroban" is an ointment of white color, it is easily applied and distributed to the skin. There are significant differences between dermatological and nasal ointments.

The dermatological "Bactroban" is produced in aluminum tubes of 15 g. The active ingredient is mupirocin, the auxiliary substances are polyethylene glycol 400, polyethylene glycol 3350.

Nasal "Bactroban" is available in aluminum tubes with an applicator of 3 g.

The active ingredient is mupirocin, auxiliary substances are soft white paraffin, glycerin, and softazan 649.

Preparations are not interchangeable, dermatological ointment can not be used internazalno, because polyethylene glycol is rapidly absorbed through the mucous membrane of the nose and adversely affects the kidneys when removing the substance from the bloodstream.

Both forms of "Bactroban" ointment have analogues. This is "Bonderm" and "Supirocin". In comparison with the "Bactroban" preparation, the analogs have a slightly lower cost, the content of the active substance is comparable.

pharmachologic effect

The active substance of the drug, mupirocin, has a depressing effect on microorganisms that cause infection of the skin and soft tissues. This action is not selective, however, for some groups of bacteria, mupirocin does not have a noticeable effect - the strains Enterobacteriaceae, Micrococcus species and Corynebacterium species are not sensitive to the drug "Bactroban". Analogues in this case should be selected not according to the active substance, but by similar pharmacokinetics.

When using the ointment slightly penetrates into the thickness of the skin or soft tissues (when used in the treatment of secondary wound infection), mupirocin is excreted from the body with urine. If the treated surface of the skin or the wound is under the bandage, the penetration of mupirocin into soft tissues is intensified.

Efficiency of "Bactroban" and comparison with analogues

With topical application, the drug showed a qualitative effect on heterogeneous skin lesions. "Bactroban" is easily tolerated, it can be combined with other medicines or used in an exceptional manner.

The average cost of dermatological ointment is 375 rubles (15 g), nasal - 570 rubles (3 g). If there is no opportunity to buy "Bactroban" (ointment), analogues can solve the problem. However, before buying it is recommended to compare the amount of active substance and clarify which auxiliary substance is used in the analog.

Indications for use

Bactroban is successfully used in the following diseases:

  • furunculosis;
  • impetigo;
  • Ecthyma;
  • Follicle;
  • Secondary infections of the skin and soft tissues (wound infection, eczema).

To treat staphylococcal infection in the nasal sinuses, rhinitis and other infections of the nasal mucosa, "Bactroban" nasal is used. Analogues should also be selected in such a way that they are designed for internazalnoe application. Chronic rhinitis caused by strains of bacteria can be treated with the help of Bactroban.

Mode of application

Dermatologic ointment is applied on the cleared dried up wound or on a skin, infected by infection, with the help of a cotton or gauze swab. The drug should be distributed a thin layer over the entire affected surface with the capture of a small area of healthy skin around. Any infected surface is treated in a direction from the edges to the middle to prevent the spread of infection to healthy tissues. After applying the ointment, the treated skin surface can be covered with a gauze dressing and fixed with adhesive plaster.

Nasal ointment in a small amount is placed in each nostril with the help of an applicator. After that, the nasal passages need to be squeezed with your fingers, so that the ointment spreads evenly over the mucous membrane. It is important to remember that dermatologic ointment is not used on the mucous membrane of the nose, for this only "Bactroban" (nasal ointment) is used. Analogues should also be carefully selected for the application area.

Contraindications

If sensitivity to mupirocin, the active substance, as well as to any of the excipients, it is necessary to choose analogues instead of the "Bactroban" preparation. Instruction in this case involves the search for a drug that has a fundamentally different composition, but similar in pharmacological properties.

"Bactroban" can not be used for ophthalmic infections. In case of accidental contact with the eye, rinse thoroughly with plenty of warm water and consult a doctor. If you accidentally swallow it, you should also contact a doctor.

In case of renal insufficiency, it is advisable to be cautious, since the drug that enters the blood is excreted by the kidneys and can adversely affect their condition.

Despite the fact that "Bactroban" can be used in combined treatment, it is not recommended to mix the ointment with other dermatological creams. If it is necessary to apply different drugs, the application from Bactroban is applied for half an hour, then carefully removed before applying another medication. The following preparation is applied to the affected surface of the skin not earlier than half an hour after removal of the ointment.

Dermatological ointment "Bactroban" can not be applied internazalno, but the reverse application is possible. Nasal ointment can be applied pointwise to small, inflamed skin lesions.

Drug analogues

For a number of reasons, it may be necessary to select analogues for "Bactroban" ointment. A few cheaper drugs are "Bonderm" and "Supirocin." By the amount of active substance these drugs are quite comparable, differ auxiliary substances.

When mupirocin is intolerant, analogs are selected with another active substance. The doctor can prescribe tetracycline ointment, "Synthomycin", "Fuziderm", "Levomekol", other drugs.

Recommendations and feedback from patients

Progress in treatment is observed literally for several days. If there is no improvement, the doctor can recommend a combination treatment when the medications are alternated or supplemented with other dosage forms (tablets, drops).

After applying the ointment, you need to wash your hands with soap, this will prevent accidental ingestion of a part of the drug on the mucous membrane of the eyes or mouth. Infants are not prescribed a drug. If skin lesions appear in the infant, do not self-medicate, the pediatrician will prescribe a drug suitable for a small patient by age.

In general, patients respond positively to the drug "Bactroban" (ointment). Instruction of analogs does not prohibit, in addition, when combining different drugs, the active substance of the drug mupirocin does not come into conflict with them.

"Bactroban" beneficially affects the skin condition with secondary infection, it is sometimes prescribed in acne to stop the inflammatory process caused by microorganisms.
