Airport of Stavropol. What do we know about it?

The history of the Stavropol airport has been counted for eight decades already. Back in 1934, in the present capital of the North Caucasus Federal District - in the city of Pyatigorsk - a civil aviation detachment was created, which was engaged in the transportation of mail, passengers and cargo. At the same time this unit, consisting of pilots, was transferred to the city of Voroshilovsk (present Stavropol).

Historical digression

The airfield was in the east of the city railway station. In the prewar years, air transport operations were regularly carried out at the above-mentioned transport infrastructure facility, mail letters and parcels were sent inside the country, as well as passengers were transported.

In 1954, Stavropol Airport received new aircraft models for those times: the L-60, Yak-12, and AN-2 aircraft. Six years later the air route "Stavropol-Moscow" appeared.

In 1963 a new terminal building was built, which was located near the village of Shpakovskoe (present-day Mikhailovsk). Stavropol Airport is still there. Over time, the need to transport people and goods by air has increased significantly. By 1985, Stavropol Airport had air communication with 26 cities of the country.

Seven years later, a regional joint-stock airline was established. However, by the end of the 20th century, Stavropol Airport again became a state property.

In 2010, under the order of the head of the Russian state, SUE "International Airport" Stavropol "was established.

Air terminal today

Currently, the above-mentioned airport serves routes both inside the country (St. Petersburg, Moscow) and outside (Yerevan, Thessaloniki).

The technical characteristics of the Stavropol air terminal allow landing and take-off of such models of aircraft as AN-12, IL-114, Boeing-737-500, A 320, YAK-40, as well as helicopters of all modifications.

Today the Stavropol airport cooperates with five well-known Russian carriers. The employees of the terminal will, if necessary, repair the aircraft and fill it up. The territory of the apron accommodates thirteen parking places. All the landing areas are equipped with modern navigation and meteorological devices. The international airport "Stavropol" has the following capacity: 35 tons per day and more than 300 passengers per hour.

In the territory of the above-mentioned facility, in order to ensure the safety of passengers, law enforcement agencies effectively serve.

Registration procedure

Passengers choosing domestic flights are required to begin the registration procedure two hours before departure. It ends forty minutes before the plane rises into the air. For those wishing to fly to foreign countries, registration begins two hours and thirty minutes before departure.

It is necessary to present to the employees of the airport a ticket and a passport. In the event that a passenger bought a ticket in an electronic version, only a document proving his identity is required to board the flight.
