14 products that should not be kept in the refrigerator

The refrigerator is designed to preserve the freshness of the products. However, some of them should not be placed under any conditions. They can lose taste, or worse - rot and become moldy, and this is not only unpleasant, but also dangerous. Here are 14 products that definitely should not be sent to the refrigerator shelf!

1. Watermelons

Watermelons retain their taste and nutrients longer at room temperature. In addition, they take up a lot of space in the refrigerator. Keep them there makes sense only in the cut form for several days. The same should be done with melons.

2. Bananas

The cold slows the ripening process of bananas, and because of humidity they quickly begin to rot. Like watermelons and melons, bananas will retain their nutrients and taste longer if they are, for example, on the kitchen table.

3. Potatoes

Of course, it is better to leave the potatoes in a cool place, otherwise it will rot. However, in the refrigerator for root vegetables is too cold. Low temperatures destroy the starch in the tubers, make their texture crumbly, and the flesh of the potatoes will soon acquire a brown or black color.

4. Onion

Onion should also be stored in a cool and dry place, but not in the refrigerator. He can mold because of humidity. To send there the product makes sense only in the sliced form.

5. Garlic

Like potatoes and onions, garlic does not tolerate humidity and can become soft or germinate. However, this does not apply to peeled and chopped denticles. To keep them fresh, put them in the refrigerator.

6. Honey

At a low temperature, honey crystallizes much faster than at room temperature. Do not be afraid to store it outside the refrigerator for as long as you want. After all, honey almost never spoils.

7. Tomatoes

Cold makes the taste of tomatoes less saturated, and their texture is mealy. To make tomatoes ripen, they should be put on the windowsill. You can store them in any other place. But if you suspect that tomatoes can overripe, send them to the refrigerator shelf, but not for long.

8. Hot sauce

Vinegar, contained in most spicy sauces, will be enough to prevent the appearance of bacteria or mold even in the heat. There's no point keeping it in the fridge. It is more convenient to place spicy sauces on a shelf with spices and spices.

9. Ketchup

You can do the same with ketchup. The high content of vinegar will not allow it to deteriorate outside the refrigerator.

10. Sliced bread

Bread is perfectly stored in the freezer. Moreover, it is there forever, without losing all its useful properties. However, being in the refrigerator, the bread will quickly cover with mold. You can and do not put it there, but in this case it's better to eat faster.

11. "Nutella"

In the cold, chocolate loses its flavor. In addition, it is more difficult to spread on bread. You will avoid these problems if you store Nutella at room temperature.

12. Apples

Apples will not spoil quickly if you do not put them in the refrigerator. In addition, they will make your kitchen cozier. However, if you need more than a few weeks to eat fruit, send them to the refrigerator. Then they will stay fresh longer.

13. Olive oil

On the shelf of the refrigerator should not be put and olive oil, otherwise you will soon find that it has a sediment and it became unpleasant to the taste.

14. Batteries

Of course, this is not a food product, but the batteries, oddly enough, often turn up in the refrigerator. Until now, many believe that by doing so, they will extend their life. However, do not trust the urban legends. Keep the batteries in the same place as all of your chargers and wires. Perhaps you still do not know when to use them. But believe me, the batteries will not last longer, lying indefinitely in the cold next to the products.
