10 basic elements of good blog design

Below is a list of 10 elements that will help improve your blog.

1. Readable text

Your blog template should help make the material easy to read. This means that the fonts you choose should be large enough to read on high-resolution monitors, but they should be simple to read easily. In other words, do not choose complicated and stylized fonts that simulate a letter by hand, etc. Arial, Georgia or Verdana are popular, as well as other simple fonts. In addition, make sure that the text in your blog is easy to view quickly - in order to determine: is it worth reading or not? A well-designed text message assumes the existence of sub-headings, lists, highlights in color or bold font.

2. Pleasant colors

Do not choose for the design of the blog colors that are dazzling with their brightness or are so muted that the task of reading the text in this design seems too complicated. It is impossible to even look at some blogs without the appearance of pain in the eyes. The most comfortable combination for the human eye: a light background and contrasting dark text (black, dark blue, dark green, etc.).

3. Easy navigation

Think about the content and structure of your blog so that they can easily navigate the person who first came to the site. Minimize the chances that visitors will not notice materials that are interesting to them because of complex and unreasoned navigation.

4. Make the pages as short as possible

People do not like to scroll pages too much. Try to make the blog pages as short as possible. In the settings, specify "show the last 10 entries". If your blog posts are detailed, and therefore long, remove some of the text under the cut. But make sure that the part left for the output looks attractive and causes the desire to expand and view the message completely.

5. Add the blog search function

Make the use of the blog as convenient as possible for visitors by including a search box in the design, by placing it in the sidebar of the blog or title.

6. Create an author's page "About me ...", "About us ..." or something relevant to your site

Of course, there are successful blogs created by anonymous authors, but most of them are written on behalf of one person or a team of people who appear to their readers and tell a little about themselves. Show the world who you are and why you are qualified enough to blog in your niche. The best bloggers are building strong relationships with their readers, and your biography is the first item in this system of relationships.

7. Form for feedback and setting up export to social networks

People are nicer if you are easily contacted. In addition, in the current society it is common to share interesting materials, referring to the liked records in the profiles of social networks. You only benefit from this - after all, the outposts contribute to the free promotion of the blog. Therefore, do not forget to leave contact information in a prominent place on your page, create a feedback form and enable the communication function with all popular social networks.

8. Useful footer

The footer (literally "footer" - the basement) is worth using. Include there a link to the site map or page about yourself. After all, this footer is displayed on all pages and constantly comes to the eye of those who came in.

9. Subscription Block

Do not forget to include the link and the corresponding button at the top of your blog page, which allows you to subscribe to the RSS feed. Subscribers often turn into your most dedicated readers. They come to comment on the blog and make outposts in the social network.

10. Add silence, or Do not include music in the design of the blog!

To some, the music design of the blog seems like a tempting idea. But most are unlikely to agree with this. Think about the fact that people do not always go online with a high-speed connection. Few will wait for the download of the page hung from behind the music. In addition, many of the music you choose can be annoying.

If you still want to create a background music, set it up so that visitors can turn it on and off at their own discretion.
