Yarrow

Yarrow common refers to herbaceous perennials. It has a fairly high upright and ribbed stem (up to 80 cm), oblong cut leaves. Baskets with small white flowers are collected in long inflorescences. Fruits are flattened, slightly elongated achenes. Their plant yields about 25 thousand per year.

Harvest yarrow in dry and sunny weather, when it blooms, cutting at the same fifteen-centimeters tops. They are dried in the street in the shade or in dryers, and then crushed. You can store raw materials for up to two years.

Yarrow ordinary saturated with essential oils, contains amino acids, bitter substances, organic acids. It also found phytoncides, ester compounds, alcohol, tannins, glycoside, mineral salts and many other useful components. All this became known relatively recently. Previously, people, not knowing anything about the composition of the yarrow, the properties of it still noticed and used in many cases.

The people gave this medicinal plant several additional names reflecting its essence: a wounded man, a driftard, a soldier's grass, a maternal bearer, a sickle-cutler, a blood-shed and others. And this is not accidental. Once the hucksters knew that if you cut the wounded leaves with a sickle, it would be delayed without suppuration. On Zaporizhzhya Sich Cossacks used a yarrow ordinary to treat even gunshot wounds. To this end, crushed grass mixed with unsalted grease was applied to them. And in the cold season they poured the dried frayed plant onto a hot towel and tied a wound to them. This ancient recipe was described as far back as the 3rd century BC Quintus Seren Samonik, a Roman poet.

In Russia, the juice of soldiers' grass was treated with nosebleeds.

Modern pharmacology introduces a common yarrow in the collection of herbs, which are taken with gastric diseases and to increase appetite.

As a hemostatic agent, it acts in the same way as calcium salts: moderately and long. In addition, preparations from the yarrow do not cause thrombosis. They are used for bleeding pulmonary, nasal and uterine, especially if the latter have emerged as a complication as a result of various inflammations, fibroids. The yarrow also helps with excessive menstruation.

The use of plants in atherosclerosis is due to its ability to regulate metabolism and tone. Decoctions and infusions from it are used for gastritis, eructation, poor assimilation of foods containing protein, lack of appetite. They act as a neutralizer of harmful products formed in the body with disturbed metabolism. They also prevent possible precipitation in the kidneys of urinary stones and mineral formations.

Yarrow is prescribed and as a soothing means for hysteria or neurasthenia.

When scabies and lichens are recommended to take a bath with the addition of decoction from this plant. Infusion from it is effective to wash ulcers, wounds and boils, to apply it in the form of lotions and compresses. And washing them will make the skin smooth and matte over time, all rashes will disappear.

Use his infusion and dentists, they advise regularly rinse them with the mouth with gingivitis, bleeding gums, stomatitis.

However, a seemingly innocuous plant, like a yarrow, is not always useful. Contraindications to the use of drugs on its basis: the tendency to clots and pregnancy. In addition, prolonged use of infusions yarrow, exaggerated dosage can trigger a skin rash and severe dizziness.
