Preparing the necessary tools

As practice shows, the simplest and cheapest solution will be the creation of a wooden window frame. The tree is very convenient to handle with carpentry tools , so even a novice master can cope with this kind of work. So, what materials do we need for this? To begin with, you need to find completely dried or glued wood (normal plywood will do). Several of its sheets will be enough to perform the work on the creation of a window frame. From tools prepare a saw, and also a hammer and a chisel. Significantly facilitate and speed up the process of manufacturing the window frame tools such as electric and cutters. However, in the absence of such equipment window frames with their own hands can still be done - it just will take more time and effort spent on work.

In addition, you need glass, metal corners, carpentry glue, and, of course, a drawing of the future product. If you chose boards as the main material, it is best to choose a material with a section of 50x150 mm.

How to make a window frame with your own hands?

Here we will consider how a window frame made of glued wooden beams is manufactured . This material is highly reliable, durable and relatively light in weight. For a window frame a glued beam is exactly what you need. You can use a conventional bar, but it is unlikely that such a product will withstand more than one operating season.

Having prepared all the necessary tools and drawings, you can safely get down to work. First we make a window box. To do this, cut a groove in the board with a section of 50x150 millimeters so that the element in the profile is similar in shape to the letter "G". Thanks to this action, the window will be more protected from moisture and airtight.

Next, you should calculate (based on the drawing) the dimensions of the boards, and then proceed to cut them. They need to be divided into 4 parts, each of which will be joined together.

About the method of connection

In the course of the work, pay special attention to the method of connection. It is important to remember that badly glued boards will not guarantee the durability of the window frame, which means that all the laborious work will go to hell. The most correct and reliable connection option is spikes and grooves. You can make them on a manual milling machine. If this is not at hand, you can use the grandfather's method - cut all the elements with a saw and a chisel.

Note that grooves are made only on vertical parts. On the boards, which will be placed in a horizontal direction, a thorn is cut out. After both elements are made, the joints are carefully treated with joinery adhesive. Connect the box with the utmost care, observing the angle of the fixture 90 degrees. After that, metal corners are installed in the corners of the ends. They can be purchased at any construction store. Their main function is to harden the window box and all the boards.

Before installing the metal corners, you should wait for a while, until the adhesive is completely dry. At the same time, you can start making a wooden frame.

Dimensions of the bar

It should be noted that the bar for this element should have a smaller cross-section - instead of 50x150 mm it is necessary to take 50x50 mm. The first thing to do is make a profile. While doing this work, do not forget to leave a small gap (1-2 millimeters) between the frame and the box. After this, the profile must be sawn to the workpieces, in which the thorns are cut and the grooves cut. The frame boards are connected in the same way as the window box.

The final stage

At the final stage, this element undergoes the glazing process. The window frame and the box are provided with hinges, and then both elements are treated with a special moisture resistant agent to increase the resistance to moisture.

Everything, our window is almost ready - it remains only to paint and varnish the surface.

Manufacturing of window frames from plywood

Since the factory production of window frames requires the availability of special expensive tools and equipment, making such products at home will be very problematic. That is why folk craftsmen developed their own way of creating a profile by fastening strips of plywood. For such a window frame, 4 bands are enough - they are then fastened with a rectangle. The whole production technology consists in making several rectangles of plywood strips of different widths and fixing them together. This way you will get the perfect laminated beam of the desired configuration.

With this technology, not only an ordinary blind window frame is made, but also a window with two and three panes. An element with one window is easy to make out of 8 plywood strips. They eventually form two rectangles (with their width slightly different from each other). Strips of the second layer are cut off a little already - this is necessary in order to fasten the glass. Further window frames wooden (namely all their details) are connected by means of self-tapping screws. All fastening points are treated additionally with joinery glue.
