At this point in almost all cars, the gearshift knob is centered on the driver's and front passenger seats, next to the center console. The modern transmission lever has an outdoor-remote location. The very part is connected with the gearbox by means of cables, a roller and a special pull (wings). The last element is located outside the box body. These days only German cars are equipped with such a lever, and even those equipped with automatic transmissions and in limited versions. And it's not a lever, but a pair of buttons located directly on the steering wheel (they are called "speed change petals").
