What is the Niva lift and how to do it yourself?

Despite the fact that the SUV "Niva" has all-wheel drive and high ground clearance, it is unlikely to overcome the complete impassability. Yet it is not a cross-country vehicle or a tank, but a civilian car. However, some craftsmen make every effort to have their car as much as possible passable. One such method is the installation of large diameter wheels.

But at the same time, we should not forget that such work entails an increase in wheel arches and the so-called Niva lift. At the last it is worth noting that all the suspension parts of such an SUV will tolerate a large load, respectively, their service life will be significantly reduced. Therefore, you can do the Niva lift with your own hands only when the jeep is often used off-road. In today's article, we learn how to do this in garage conditions.

Lift "Niva": rear axle

First, take the jack. We lift the car and install under the body of the stand. First it is done with the rear axle. Here it is necessary to raise it to the maximum height and fix it. Remove the brake force limiter rod, the lower and upper shock absorber mountings, and the rear brake contour tee. Now remove the springs and install in the upper cups of the spacer. Lift "Niva" is accompanied by a reverse installation of springs and pumping of shock absorbers. It is advisable to replace the rubber bands on the last part.

The next stage removes the two upper jet traction from the rear axle and installs new ones in their place. In this case, you do not need to completely screw the bolts. After that, lift the bridge to the stop with a jack and crank it. Now we screw the links to the body. They also do not need to be tightened too much. Now we lower the rear axle and turn all the bolts to the stop. Then mount back the pull rod of the braking force limiter. And the tee needs to be lengthened. This is done with a special hose.

Elevator "Niva": front axle

To get to work, you need to unscrew the wheel nuts and raise the front of the car on the jack. Do not forget about the fixation. After our wheels are removed, clean the accumulated dirt ball joint, shock absorbers and levers. Next, remove the front springs. We take the wrenches and unscrew the shock absorbers from the upper and lower fasteners. Then remove them together with the stabilizer and unscrew the fixing bolts of the ball bearing. We release the springs from the screeds. It is better to replace them with new ones. In order not to spend too much time searching for all these parts, it is advisable to purchase a ready-made lift for Niva.

And we return to work. So, we install new rubber bands on the shock absorber, mount the part into place and cut off half the height from the upper bump. Next, we attach the ball to the lower lever, and on the top we attach the spacer. It should be made of 13 clamping plates. Then screw the upper ball joint to the upper arm with the long bolts and lower the car.

After the "Niva" lift is made, the stabilizer can not be installed back, as this part negatively affects the passability of the car.
