What is the coccyx cyst and what are the causes of its occurrence?

In the human body, there are many diseases that can develop even in the embryonic state. Such diseases include the coccyx cyst (the first name is the epithelial coccygeal course) - usually an innate disease, the creation of a cystic space consisting of skin cells, between the coccyx and the sacrum.

The disease itself often occurs in the womb, and for a long time a person does not even suspect its presence. Some do not know about it throughout their lives. The coccyxal cyst begins to develop during the period when puberty begins, when the sebaceous and sweat glands actively begin to act. Another cause that provokes the growth of a cyst is trauma. The consequence of trauma can be the stagnation of the products of the vital activity of the epithelium, which causes an active inflammatory process. At the same time, the walls of the tube collapse, and the infection gets under the skin, into fatty tissue. As a result, an abscess is formed.

There is a coccyx cyst complicated and not complicated by a purulent process.

As a rule, a complicated variant of the disease occurs either in acute or in chronic form. Initially, the patient begins to complain about difficulties in walking, caused by painful tumors. When the infection penetrates into the products of the work of epithelial tissues, edema of the inflammation site is observed, the temperature rises, condensation and pain appear.

When there is a chronic form of the disease, the amount of pus is insignificant, the place of cyst formation is normal, and the skin is not inflamed. However, this is by no means a sign of the completion of the disease. In any case, the most correct way out of the situation is surgical intervention.

In general, the coccyx cyst, the symptoms of which are listed above, is a disease that is eliminated only surgically. Immediate surgery can be appointed by the surgeon only in the case of a state of remission, in which there is not a strong accumulation of pus. In this case, after the operation, the recovery occurs quickly enough, and the patient recovers. The appearance of secondary cysts, as a rule, is not observed.

Remember that the coccyx cyst, the treatment of which is only surgical, can be diagnosed before the accumulation of pus. However, a person often turns to a specialist only when the place of infection has swelled and the general condition has worsened. A timely call to a doctor will help to go through the operation faster and painlessly. The launched form of the coccyx cyst, in which very severe suppuration occurs, can lead to the spread of pus to other tissues and to the area directly of the bone of the coccyx. Treatment of this variant of the disease is much longer and more painful.

The operation to remove the coccyx cyst is under local anesthesia and lasts for an average of half an hour. It takes place in two stages: the first - the removal of the immediate focus of inflammation, the second - suturing the wound. The second stage is chosen by the doctor, he can conduct it as he sees fit. The wound can be sutured in the direction from the edges to the depth of the wound. It is also possible to sew the wound partially or completely. When the patient's treatment is outpatient, open wound management is accepted. In this case, the patient is active, becomes able to work after several weeks of hospital, he feels much less pain than after suturing, and the likelihood of a relapse in this case is much lower. However, healing of the wound is longer: approximately two months.

After the operation, the patient must follow the rules of personal hygiene, as well as fulfill all medical prescriptions in order to avoid the development of complications.
