How to treat varicose veins. The main methods of therapy

Varicose is a pathological dilatation of the veins, in which the wall of blood vessels is thinned, and so-called "nodes" are formed. This disease is most often found in women (about 35%), but it happens in men (10%). The thing is that pregnancy and childbirth contribute to the rapid development of the process.

The most common type of pathology is varicose veins of the lower extremities, the first signs of which are fatigue and heaviness in the legs, "crawled out" veins, the appearance of "nodules" and "stars."

Varicose causes a hereditary factor, but the disease can develop independently. In some cases this is a consequence of incorrect development of venous valves. Sometimes the disease is transmitted through a generation, but is more common in parents and their children. People who are overweight are more likely than others to get sick. Often, varicose veins are a consequence of professional activity and are found in sellers, dentists, surgeons and hairdressers. This is due to the fact that they have to stand for a long time in one place, which contributes to the stagnation of blood. In recent decades, the disease has grown younger and began to manifest itself as early as 25-30 years. The reason, above all, is associated with a sedentary lifestyle, as well as fashion with high heels in women.

How are varicose veins treated?

First, you need to rest your feet, for example, after work for a while, go to bed, lifting the lower limbs above the level of the heart. Secondly, when you sit, try to stretch your legs. Do not sit with your foot on the leg. This is a beautiful, but very harmful female habit that prevents blood from circulating through the veins. Thirdly, for the legs there is nothing worse than standing in the same place. If you have a job that requires a long stand, find a way to move a little (preferably every forty minutes).

How is it treated with varicose medicament?

To relieve pain in the legs and other symptoms of the disease, preparations for local effects are used. For example, "Heparin Ointment", ointment "Troxevasin", "Lyoton-gel", ointments with chestnut extract. Compression stockings help prevent the occurrence of edema in patients with varicose veins. But it must be remembered that the removal of symptoms does not cure the disease itself.

How is varicosity treated permanently?

Sclerotherapy has been widely used in recent years. The sick vein is removed from the circulatory system with the help of special medications. Its functions are taken over by other veins. With sclerotherapy, the patient does not have any scars, but this method of treatment is effective only at the initial stages of the disease.

For this purpose it is useful to make baths with sea salt and various aroma oils. The prepared infusion of Kalanchoe or chestnut has a good curative effect. Contrast shower and wraps are an excellent prevention of the disease.

How are varicose veins treated if the above remedies do not help? In this case, there is a need for surgical intervention. Today, there are techniques that make this process less traumatic. It should be remembered that sclerotherapy or surgery is not a lifetime guarantee of getting rid of varicose veins. If you continue to neglect the health of your legs, varicose veins will develop further, affecting other veins.

Where are varicose veins treated? This question is asked by almost every patient who has found signs of a disease. In this situation, you should consult a phlebologist-doctor who will prescribe an adequate treatment taking into account your individual characteristics.
