What is a planed beam?
The planed beam is a building material widely used in construction. It is used to fix blockhouse, lining, imitation of timber, for wall and ceiling lining, floor lag to it. From the beams of certain types of trees produce interior partitions, doors and furniture. The thickness of the beam is at least 10 cm, if it is smaller, then this is already a bar.
The planed beam can not be attributed to durable building materials, but nevertheless, with due care, it can stand up to a hundred years. This type of beam is cut from a solid log, all its four sides are machined with special tools. It can be both square and rectangular, and its width should not exceed the thickness more than twice. The beam is sliced to the purity of the first class.
Planed and profiled - these bars are completely different, but they have much in common. Both one and the second are fire-dangerous enough, therefore it is necessary to process them with special means. It must be remembered that this is primarily a tree that is prone to decay and destruction under the influence of fungi, atmospheric phenomena, insects. To extend the operating life, the planed beam must be treated with an antiseptic agent, and the impregnation should be updated from time to time.
In construction, bars, both natural moisture, and dried in a special chamber are used. The planed dry bar has a moisture content of only 8 - 12%, while the planed bar dried naturally has a moisture content of about 18%. In construction, both the first and second type of wood can be used , which is preferable - this is completely dependent on the type of work.
The beam is used for erection of any structures, because it has proved to be a light, strong and durable material with a low coefficient of temperature expansion. The price for it is quite acceptable, because it is very easy to produce the beam, and raw materials are not that valuable.
Keep the uneven bars in a well ventilated area, with a low humidity. They are stacked, with air circulating normally. For safety, the boards are covered with a roofing material.
