The pompon, a furry decoration element, has been familiar to us since childhood. It's quite easy to make a pompom with your own hands. This task will not be difficult even for those who have never been able to knit. In the store you can buy special tools, but it's easier to make them, considering the dimensions you need, cutting the circles of the desired diameter from the cardboard yourself.

It should be noted that the diameter of the pompon will be equal to the diameter of the cut circles. In the center of them, you need to cut a smaller circle. For the convenience of winding the thread, the circles need to be cut from the edge to the center or cut out a small segment. If you do not want to make a cut, then the thread can be wound using a needle with yarn threaded into it.

To make a pompom with your own hands, yarn can be taken any. The main requirement: if you use a pompom as an element of decor, it should match the texture and color of the clothes.

So, let's get to work. Insert a strong thread or a thread folded several times between the patterns along the center circle. It will be needed to tighten the pompon. Tightly wrap circles of yarn, trying to distribute it evenly over the entire surface. After winding the right amount, gently push the scissors between the circles and, holding hands, cut the winding along the entire length. Strictly tighten the cut yarn with a previously laid yarn and make a strong knot. Only then can the cardboard circles that hold the structure be removed. It remains to shake, fluff the pompon - and it's ready!

Unlike pompons made from yarn, cheerleading pompons are made from bright light materials. It can be a metallized thread or paper, vinyl or plastic. A special handle or ring is attached to the pompon for convenience of holding.

These pompoms are an indispensable attribute of acrobatic dance, they act as a means of attracting the attention of spectators and emphasize the movements of cheerleaders. Their size is much larger than the size of the decorative pom-poms, and the colors are chosen according to the colors of the clothing or the emblem of the team.

You can make such a pompom on your own, at home, given that the diameter of the circle should be at least 30 cm.

Make a pompom with your own hands for the performance can be done with the help of ordinary plastic food packages. Packs "T-shirts" need to cut off the handles and rip open the pack on the side seam. Fold several blanks on top of each other and make incisions along the entire width, not reaching the end about 12-15 centimeters. Tightly twist uncut pieces of packages into a bundle and wrap it with adhesive tape. This will be the handle of our pom-pom. Do not forget to attach a loop to the end of the handle, which you can wear on your wrist to hold the pompon.
