Ways how to make a paragraph in the "Word" 2007

What is a paragraph or, as it is also called, the "red line", know absolutely everything. After all, this is studied in the lower grades. But times change: notebooks' sheets were replaced by text editors, such as "Word", and ball pens - with computer keyboards. That is why in the article we will talk about how to make a paragraph in the "Word" of 2007. Of course, most of the above methods will work for other versions of the program, but examples will be cited exactly on the specified version.

Turn on the ruler

Now we'll talk about how to make a paragraph in the "Word" 2007 with a ruler. This tool is standard for MS Word software, so there is no need to download and install something, which naturally speaks in favor of this method.

But before you can make a paragraph in Word 2007 using the ruler, you need to enable it. There are two ways to do this. How to use it is up to you.

The first method implies the following:

1. In the program go to the "View" tab.
2. Find an area called "Show."
3. Check the box next to "Ruler".

The second is different:

1. Find the necessary icon to include the ruler (it is above the page's vertical scroll bar).
2. Click on this icon.

Make a paragraph using the ruler

Using the ruler, the paragraph in the "Word" is very simple. But first, we need to explain what we need and what we are responsible for.

We use only one ruler. The one that is on top.

On it you can observe four sliders (one on the right and three on the left). We are interested in one of the left, or, to be more precise, the one on top.

It is he who is responsible for indenting the first line of the paragraph from the left edge. All you need to do is pull the presented slider to the right. As far as you drag the slider - at such a distance from the left edge and indent the first line.

This method is good in that it is very simple and fast, but there are also disadvantages. You can not set the distance to exactly one millimeter, because the indentation is made in accordance with the ruler scale.

The second way, how to make a paragraph in the "Word" of 2007, is to use the "Paragraph" settings window. It is responsible for this element of text formatting. First, let's figure out how to get into it.

You need to go to the Home tab if you are on another. There, in the "Paragraph" area, you need to find and click the corresponding icon, which is located on the lower right side. Its exact location you can see in the picture below.

Now in the "Paragraph" settings window in the "Indent" column you need to open the "First line" drop-down list. In it, select "Indent," then in the field to the right, specify the exact distance to indent the first line of the paragraph.

After the manipulations you can safely press the "OK" button and observe the paragraph in the selected text fragment.

Change the interval between paragraphs

Finally I would like to tell you how to change the interval between paragraphs in the "Word" of 2007. This is done in the same "Paragraph" settings window, so if you want to increase or decrease the distance between paragraphs, do not rush to leave it.

This setting is already in another column - "Interval". In it, on the left, there are two fields before which the inscriptions "Before" and "After". By specifying a parameter in these fields, you change the distance between paragraphs. If the "Before", then before the paragraph, if the "After", then after the paragraph.

After making adjustments, do not forget to apply the changes by clicking the "OK" button.

If you want to quickly remove all the intervals between paragraphs, you can use the button on the toolbar. It is in the "Paragraph" area, in the "Home" tab and is called "Interval".

Select the paragraphs between which you want to remove the interval, and click on this button. After selecting "Delete interval after paragraph".
