How to make paragraphs in the "Word": three ways

When a document is structured and has a good formulation in general, the reader can easily navigate the text, which makes reading easier. When a document is pleasant to read, it means that this text is well-formatted. Elements of formatting are pretty much in the "Word", but in this article the only one will be touched - a paragraph. It is also called the red line, which will be done periodically in this text.

Unfortunately, very few people know how to make paragraphs in the "Word", or they know, but they do it all the same wrong. The article will cover all three ways: using the ruler, tab and menu "Paragraph". They perform the same role, but the approach to each of them is different. Therefore, read the article to the end to find a way for yourself.

Paragraph with the ruler

As mentioned above, paragraphs in the "Word" can be done in three ways. Now the first of them will be considered - with the help of a ruler. This method is fairly easy to use, but still it is not popular enough. Most likely, this is due to its inaccuracy - the length of the paragraph is determined by eye, but if it does not matter to you, then you can safely use it.

So, first you need to figure out where the line is. The matter is that sometimes by default it is removed and it is necessary to include it. To do this, follow these three simple steps:

  1. Go to the "View" tab in the program.
  2. Find an area called "Show."
  3. Check the box next to the line "Ruler".

If you use the "Ward" of the 2003 version, you need to click "View" and select "Ruler" from the list.

Determining the sliders on the ruler

So, how to include the ruler, now it became clear, but very few people know how to use it. In order to correctly make paragraphs in the "Word", you should determine in detail each slider on it.

As it is easy to guess, you need to use a ruler that is located on top. There are only 4 sliders on it - 1 on the left, 3 on the right. We are interested in those sliders that are located on the right side. They can be seen in the picture below.

Let's start from the bottom. The slider in the form of a small rectangle affects the indentation of the entire text from the left edge. It is recommended right now to independently check it by moving left or right. Only do not forget to select all the text or the necessary part of the text.

The middle slider is responsible for the ledge. This means that if you shift it to the right, all lines except the first line in the paragraph will be shifted. This can also be checked independently.

Make a paragraph using the ruler

And so we reached the top slider. That's what we need. Moving it, you indent the first line of the paragraph - determine the size of the red line. You can take the paragraph both to the right side and to the left, depending on your preference.

As mentioned above, this method does not allow you to pinpoint the red string. Using the ruler, you can only specify the margin. But for clarity, fission is shown on it. Each digit is equal to one centimeter.

A paragraph using tabs

The first way, as paragraphs are done in the "Word", we have already considered, now go to the next - to tabulation.

This method, like the previous one, does not give 100% accuracy and in many respects loses rulers, but it can not be ignored. With its help, you can instantly indent from the left edge, thereby denoting a red line. Well, now let's get to the point.

Tabulation is performed by pressing the corresponding key - TAB. You can click it and see for yourself. Roughly speaking, when you press one big space is put. But if such a space is put before the first line of the paragraph, then visually it will look like a red line.

As for the minuses of this method, it is the only one, but it is quite decisive. If the text you typed is pretty voluminous, then you will not be able to make a red line at once in each paragraph. It will be necessary to do this methodically in each of them. Therefore, it is easier to use the ruler or the menu "Paragraph", which we will now talk about.

Paragraph with the menu "Paragraph"

Now we will make a paragraph in the 2007 Vorda, but this does not mean that this method is not suitable for other versions, there can only be some differences.

So, first we need to get to the menu "Paragraph". You can do this in several ways by clicking on the corresponding icon, the location of which you can see in the picture below.

Alternatively, clicking on the text on the PCM and selecting "Paragraph" from the menu.

In the "Paragraph" menu, on the first tab, there is a field called "Indent", which is what you need. Pay attention to the drop-down list, above which it says "first line:". Clicking on it will show the choices: "(no)", "indentation" and "ledge". If you choose not - nothing happens, the ledge - will move all the lines except the first one in the paragraph, but indentation - will shift the first line, which is what we need. Select it and in the field on the right, enter your value. Thus, you can specify exactly the parameters of the red line.

Change the interval between paragraphs

The interval between the paragraphs in the "Word" is all done in the same "Paragraph" menu, so do not rush out of it. Pay attention to the "Interval" field, or rather to the left part. There are two counters: "Before" and "After". By specifying values, you determine the amount of space between paragraphs.

By the way, all of the above methods 100% make a paragraph in the "Word" 2010. The interval between paragraphs is set exactly the same.
