The pulse rate in men. What should be the pulse rate of men

Pulse is the frequency of vibrations of the walls of blood vessels. Such fluctuations are due to the fact that the flow of blood passes from the heart and back. The norm of the pulse in men differs from the female in the lower side.

Why is the pulse reading important?

If the person's pulse is within normal limits, then this indicates that his heart is working well. Deviations in one direction or another make one suspect that there are any pathologies in the work of the cardiovascular system. Therefore, it is very important to know what the norm of the pulse in men, in time to prevent the development of a disease.

Biomechanics of the human pulse

The mechanism of pulsation of blood vessels is easy to explain. At a time when another portion of blood is ejected from the ventricle of the heart, the vessels expand dramatically. After all, blood exerts a certain amount of pressure on them. Then the tissues of the vessels also narrow rapidly. The expansion of large vessels can also be seen visually. Narrowing of small vessels can be determined only with the help of palpation or using special devices.

How to determine that the normal heart rate

The norm in men is characterized by indicators of 60-90 beats per minute. It should be remembered that if a person regularly goes in for sports, his heart muscle is well trained and can work in a slower regime. Those who constantly train and lead an active lifestyle, the heart is reduced less often. Therefore, the norm of the pulse in men who are trained can be 60 beats per minute.

It should also be remembered that in a relaxed state the heart muscle is reduced less often than with active actions. For example, the pulse rate in men 35 years old at rest - 60 strokes, while awake - 60-90, and under physical exertion it can increase by one and a half times.

What does the pulse depend on?

Indicators depend on the age of the person. On average, if the pulse rate in men 40 years is 65-90 beats per minute, then after 20 years, the same person's pulse will be somewhat reduced. This is due to the fact that with age, the walls of blood vessels lose their elasticity. So the pulse rate in men is 60 years - it's already figures less than 60-90 strokes.

But a faster pulse can become from external factors. It is known that stresses, emotional experiences, unrest provoke an increase in pulsation.

In the morning - slow, in the evening - fast

The time of day also affects the fluctuations of the heartbeats. The lowest pulse is observed in a dream, when the body rests. After awakening a person's heart also contracts slowly enough. But in the evening, as doctors noticed, almost without exception, there is a more frequent pulse.

So if a person suffers from any kind of heart disease, and the experts ordered him to monitor his pulse, it should be measured for a certain time at the same time of day.

When to Worry

The pulse rate for men of 50 years will be different than that of a 20-year-old young man. It is believed that every five years of life add to the norm of 2-3 extra strokes per minute. And always worth paying close attention, if the indicators are significantly rejected.

For example, if during the day the pulse is only 30-50 beats per minute, then you should definitely consult a doctor. Most likely, you will be diagnosed with a "bradycardia".

This disease can provoke the following factors:

  • cold;
  • poisoning;
  • Increased intracranial pressure;
  • Any infectious disease;
  • Dysfunction of the thyroid gland.

But not only external causes can affect the decrease in heart rate. If there are pathological changes or lesions in the sinus-atrial node, this can also affect the normal functioning of the heart.

Knocks like mad

There is also a reverse phenomenon - not a reduced, but an intensified pulse rate. The norm in men was considered above, the indicator should not exceed more than 90 beats per minute in a calm state. If it is higher, but there are no provoking factors (sports, food or excitement), then we can talk about tachycardia.

And it may not always be present all the time. It can develop seizures. And then the doctors talk about paroxysmal tachycardia. It can occur if blood pressure has fallen sharply, there is an anemia in anamnesis caused by severe blood loss or purulent infections. Violations in the sinus node of the heart can also provoke a tachycardia.

Often this condition occurs in hot weather, especially among residents of northern latitudes. They are not used to the high temperatures of air and high humidity, so the cardiovascular system suffers. A person experiences stitching or aching pains, dizziness, it seems to him that there is not enough air.

If a person does not have pathologies of the cardiovascular system, the thyroid gland functions normally, then the cause of the malfunctions is in the heart. It must be trained: to move more, to play sports, to change your diet and add to it citrus, grapes, bananas, fish, low-fat dairy products, in a word those products that have a good effect on the CAS

What does the pulse characteristic depend on?

Each person's pulse has its own individual characteristics. The pulse rate in men of 45 years of different complexion will vary and depend on many factors. These include:

  1. Exercise of the heart muscle. The healthier the heart, the less it shrinks. This is especially noticeable among athletes. The one who deals with so-called aerobic sports (and includes running, swimming, skiing) has a stronger heart and the frequency of beats per minute may be below the generally accepted norm.
  2. A reduced pulse can be observed in those who have a constant high blood pressure. With this condition, the left ventricle increases in size, its muscles become stronger and, correspondingly, more blood is thrown out in a single push. But then comes the so-called decompensation, when the stomach becomes difficult to cope with such a load. Therefore, the norm of the pulse in men 50 years old who have a history of hypertension, will differ in the lower side than in the healthy.
  3. How much blood is pushed out at a time. If this volume is sufficient, then the walls of the vessels expand very well, the pulse is clearly palpable. If the portion of blood is small, then the tremors are hardly palpable, weak. If the walls of the vessels are elastic, the pulse will be pounding, because at the time of ejection the blood vessels are greatly stretched, and when the heart muscle is relaxed, the lumen is greatly narrowed. Even to the touch, the doctor can say that the range of the pulse wave is too large.
  4. The lumen of blood vessels. In physiology, symmetrical vessels should have the same lumen. Some diseases (stenosis or atherosclerosis) contribute to the fact that the affected vessels begin to narrow. Therefore, the pulse on the right and left hands, which is measured in the same place, can be different.

How to count the pulse

Usually, the pulse is determined by probing on large vessels of the body. Blood points on the carotid artery are clearly visible, because it is very large and extends well. The temporal arteries are located almost beneath the skin, the pulse is also well palpated on them.

But the most classical method is still the calculation of the pulse on the radial artery, which is located on the wrist, on its inner side.

To correctly calculate the pulse, you need to clasp your wrist with your hand. In this case, the thumb should be in front of the little fingers of the hand on which the pulse is measured. And all the other 4 fingers are located on the inner surface of the wrist approximately in the middle of the arm. Then under them it will be clearly felt how the radial artery contracts.

Physicians are advised after measuring the pulsation on one hand, check the indicators on the other hand. If the pulse is the same (plus or minus 2-3 strokes), then we can say that there are no pathologies of the vessels.

Remember that you need to measure the pulse exactly a minute, not 20 seconds or 30, and then multiply. After all, the rhythm of the heart fluctuates within a minute. Best before measuring the pulse, take a break from 5-10.
