The presentation of the chorion - the causes, symptoms, treatment.

The presentation of the chorion (placenta) is the wrong location of the placenta, when instead of the uterus body it seizes partially or completely the lower uterine segment. Chorion is a synonym for the placenta in the early stages of development. By the end of pregnancy, most of the patients get a chorion, but there are exceptions. If the localization of the chorion is posterior, then it will rise more slowly, if the anterior, then faster.

Causes of the disease

The exact and reliable causes of this disease are unknown, but there are a number of factors contributing to the development of this disease. In particular, the presentation of the chorion can develop due to:

  • Scarring on the uterus after caesarean section;
  • Scarring after myomectomy;
  • A large number of deliveries in the patient;
  • Age over 35 years;
  • Preposition of the chorion during previous births;
  • Chronic inflammation of the uterus ;
  • Tumor of the uterus (myoma);
  • Anomalies and pathologies in organ development;
  • Smoking.

In addition, it can be said that the presentation of the chorion is quite common in the early stages of pregnancy, statistically this is up to 30% of cases.

Symptoms of the disease

The main symptom of the disease is the appearance of bleeding, which appears due to the fact that the placenta is not able to stretch, so when the uterus is stretched, it exfoliates and gives bleeding. Bleeding can appear spontaneously, then disappear, then reappear, pain sensations disappear. The low location of the chorion promotes heavy bleeding. In addition, bleeding can trigger such factors as physical stress, vaginal examination, sexual intercourse, hot bath, sauna, and constipation.

Complications that can cause chorion presentation

The main complication that this disease gives is an unplanned termination of pregnancy or premature birth. With this disease the child develops normally, but the patients have a characteristic hypotension, therefore even a small blood loss leads to anemia. If the bleeding started spontaneously, then at times you have to do cesarean section, as the last measure in order to save the life of the mother and baby.

Diagnosis of the disease

Diagnosis of presentation usually does not cause difficulties in the patient normally observed in the hospital. This disease is perfectly diagnosed when carrying out the usual ultrasound examination. Vaginal examination of pregnant women is not recommended.

If the patient did not undergo an ultrasound examination, then this disease can be recognized by frequent bleeding, which is not accompanied by painful sensations, and also by the high standing of the uterine fundus.

Treatment of the disease

First of all, it must be said that all drugs for this pathology are absolutely useless, because they can not affect the location of the chorion. When there are suspicious symptoms and diagnosing the disease, you must completely exclude any physical activity, and completely exclude sex. In addition, the patient needs constant supervision of a specialist, so she is hospitalized in a hospital.

In the event that there are no permanent bleeding, the patient may well be at home, while more resting in the open air and eating properly, picking up the diet, to prevent the appearance of constipation. It should be noted that this is especially important, because with this pathology any laxatives are contraindicated.

If the patient has a complete presentation of the chorion, then her natural births are contraindicated and a cesarean section is required . With natural childbirth, there is a high risk of placental abruption, as a result of which there will be a lot of blood loss, which will threaten the health of both mother and child.
