An abscess formed in the throat. What to do?

Diseases, unfortunately, are an integral part of our lives. Since childhood we are sick, occasionally escaping with injections or pills, and in old age we maintain our health exclusively with medicines. One of the more common diseases in children is angina.

Yellowish plaque, which will be further treated as an abscess in the throat, is in most cases triggered by inflammation of the pharyngeal or lymphoid ring tonsils , which performs a protective function, and the amygdala becomes the first to meet pathogenic microbes on its way.

The inflammation of the tonsils, or tonsillitis, has various clinical forms. Not all species, of course, are accompanied by pus in the throat, but some of them can be quite dangerous to health. The following clinical forms of angina are more well known: follicular, fibrinous, catarrhal, lacunar, ulcerative-necrotic, herpetic, phlegmonous and mixed. In most cases, all forms of inflammation of the tonsils differ in the degree of pain in the throat, the level of temperature, weakness and increase in regional lymph nodes. Pus in the throat appears with lacunar, ulcerative-necrotic, phlegmonous and follicular form of angina.

The follicular form of the angina is quite dangerous, as it is accompanied by a strong rise in temperature with possible intoxication phenomena. In addition, severe pain in the throat during swallowing is possible . A general blood test will help to identify the following: an increase in the level of leukocytes and ESR with a neutrophil shift. An ulcer in the throat with a follicular form will provoke an increase in lymph nodes on the neck, which will give even more painful sensations when feeling. You can not do without an obvious reddening of the throat and white pus on the tonsils, in the form of numerous point elevations.

Unlike follicular form of angina, lacunar is much more dangerous, as it is accompanied by the most painful symptoms. With this form, the abscess on the amygdala gets a yellow-white coating, and all the other symptoms - high body temperature and sore throat when swallowing - develop for several hours, which can lead to harmful effects if you do not seek medical help on time.

The phlegmonous form of angina is characterized by purulent melting of a portion of the amygdala on one side. A sore throat in this case provokes strong pains of the tonsils. Without surgical intervention in this case, not to do, in other words - the tonsils after weakening the disease will need to be removed, so that the infection does not affect the work of other internal organs.

With ulcerative necrotic tonsillitis, no elevated temperature is observed, but ulcerative melting or necrosis of one of the tonsils occurs gradually. It does not exclude discomfort when swallowing and putrid smell from the mouth.

If the angina is started, then most likely it will be complicated by a pharyngeal abscess, smoothly passing into mediastinitis, sepsis or meningitis. Untimely treatment of inflamed tonsils can also lead to later age to rheumatism or glomerulonephritis.

Treatment of angina is in several stages. First, the doctor will establish the clinical form of the disease, and only then will go directly to treatment. The most effective drugs are the antibiotics of the penicillin series. Antibiotic therapy will be mandatory for any form of angina.

With local application of antiseptics, aerosols, lozenges or tablets are more often used. At the initial stage, the abscess in the throat can be cured by the usual rinsing of the throat with a solution of potassium permanganate or iodine (soda and salt). In any case, bed rest and calm will be prescribed in any form of angina.
