The most common case of injury is a stab wound

If you refer to the police reports, you will see that domestic accidents and unauthorized (intentional and unintentional) infliction of bodily injuries occupy a large part of the challenges. The situation is also confirmed by medical reports: a knife wound is the leader among injuries. Unfortunately, it often happens that people can not live peacefully, they need to find out the relationship or to prove something to someone. When arguments end, in the course are improvised funds. As a rule, this is a knife. Also, the knife is a favorite tool of bandits because of its accessibility and freedom of wearing.

There are the following types of wounds that can be applied to a person:

  • Punctured - small area and greater depth of wound;
  • Cut - a small depth of the wound and a large area;
  • Chopped - large damage inside and uneven wounds;
  • Bitten - often have an imprint of the contour of the teeth;
  • Torn - large area of damage with different wound edges;
  • Gunshot - often have the appearance of holes made by firearms of various weapons.

In turn, by the nature of penetration, all wounds are divided:

  • Penetrating wounds (abdomen, head, other parts of the body) - the nature of the lesion is not only superficial, but also internal;
  • Non-penetrating wounds - superficial defeat.

The most dangerous are the wounds penetrating, as often at first sight it is difficult to establish a complete picture of the damage. As a rule, besides injuries to the upper layers (skin and subcutaneous layer), internal organs are damaged, which can lead to serious consequences.

In most cases, the stab wound is penetrating. This is possible when striking with a sharp tip of the knife. If a knife is struck with a wide side of it - a blade, then this is a non-penetrating wound cut type. In the case of unauthorized damage, the blade, glass, knife, and dangerous razor are most frequently used as piercing-cutting objects. As a rule, in case of an accident, such objects are kitchen appliances, equipment, objects for caring for the garden (for example, shovel, chopper) and garden implements of various types.

All injuries, including knife injury, are divided into severity:

  • Light - minor injuries (bruises, sprains, cuts);
  • Middle - fractures, dislocations;
  • Severe - concussion, severe blood loss, fractures of large and responsible bones.

As can be seen, the degree of severity depends on the consequences to which it resulted. That is why it is sometimes difficult to establish it during a primary examination. This complicates the diagnosis (the speed and correctness of the treatment depends on it) and the condition of the patient (the consequences of the examination and treatment).

In the event that a person has been stabbed, he must immediately provide first aid. This, as a rule, is not at all difficult, if an eyewitness does not have moral fears and knows the basics of first aid. In case of a knife wound it is necessary:

  • The first thing is to stop the bleeding;
  • The second - to call an ambulance or to attract the attention of others;
  • The third - to conduct disinfection (only in case of a shallow wound);
  • The fourth is to wipe the skin near the wound;
  • The fifth is to apply a dressing to prevent infection.

Ideally, you must do many more things and, perhaps, in a slightly different sequence. But I will say from experience itself, it was the above actions that saved my life when there was a serious knife wound of the arm (forearm). Never be indifferent to someone else's trouble, especially if you are an eyewitness. Loss of blood is serious, because apart from the phenomenon itself (which weakens immunity and causes undesirable processes), infection (blood and internal organs) and even death are possible. The ambulance can even be put on the first place - it will be easier morally from the fact that the help is already close.
