What is a mixer, even those who do not know plumbing at all know. Like all other plumbing elements, it can break down, rot, wear with time, which means that any master should be able, at least, to replace a used mixer with a new one.

Choose a mixer

When choosing an aggregate, pay attention to the characteristic features. First of all, take it in hand - a quality mixer should not be easy, because exactly the thickness of the metal determines the service life of this product. Directly the material of manufacture, as a rule, is silumin or brass. Products made of brass have an impressive appearance and a high degree of protection against corrosion. This is due to a higher price, in comparison with low-quality silumin brethren. The installation of a mixer in the bathroom or in the kitchen assumes good performance of the unit for at least the next several years, so it is not recommended to save on quality here.

As for the mixer models, the following types are available for sale:

1. Single lever - classic with one lever. The water temperature is regulated by movements to the right and left, pressure - movements up and down.
2. Two-valve - a classic mixer with two valves - for cold and hot water.
3. Non-contact - as the name suggests, in order to turn on water, no contact with the device is required. At the heart of its action is the infrared sensor, which determines the approach of the hand to the tap. Installation of a mixer of this type is used only for wash-hand basins.
4. Touch, which is controlled by touch buttons, which are located on a special panel.

The installation of a new mixer, naturally, is preceded by the dismantling of the old device. It is necessary to close the water, then carefully, in order not to damage the thread on the fitting in the wall, unscrew the old mixer. We carefully clean the fitting of the remains of the old winding and garbage.

Further, the installation of the mixer starts immediately. Eccentrics are rewound, screwed into fittings in the wall. We screw them using the level, however, if the distance between the inputs is broken, the eccentrics will help to get the necessary 150 mm.

Next, you need to try on the main mixer block to the eccentric, try to screw it. If both sides fall without problems, eccentrics are installed correctly - you can remove the unit and install decorative ceiling lights. If they are close to the wall tightly, this is another indicator that the mixer installation is being performed correctly.

It only remains to tighten the block. Any reeling material in this case is not necessary to use, the standard gaskets inside the pressure nuts are enough. The nuts themselves during the tightening should creak a little. The installation of the mixer is now complete. You can turn on the water again and test the device.
