China has long been recognized as a superpower, which has huge economic and political potential. The country has more than 1.5 billion people, which makes it the first in the world.

Looking at the sphere of the economy, it must be said that in 2010 China surpassed Japan and took second place in nominal GDP. And in 2014 the state advanced to the position of a leader, thus overtaking the American power. China has long been recognized as the largest exporter. This sphere brings considerable funds to the state budget. Many political scientists say that if other countries stop buying Chinese goods, the country's economy will fail.

General information about Beijing

The capital of the People's Republic of China is Beijing. As a city of central subordination, it is divided into administrative units. There are more than 300. Today, Beijing is recognized as the center of China in the political, educational and cultural spheres. But it should be noted that the title of "economic heart" is appropriated to Shanghai and Hong Kong. At the moment, the capital is more developed in business, is the main air hub, as well as a major auto and railway center.

By the number of people, Beijing ranks third. As of 2015, more than 21.5 million people live here. The area of Beijing is just over 16,000 sq. M. Km.

Territorial division

The capital of the PRC is divided into districts. And it should be noted that the traditional borders do not coincide with the official ones. Many names of districts end in "men". This indicates that in the given territory there used to be a fortification wall.

The composition of Beijing, except for districts, includes small towns and cities. For example, Miyun and Yizhuang. 16 counties that make up the city are divided into 273 units of the third level.

Architecture

Three architectural style in its streets has the capital of the PRC. The sights of this city look amazing. An example can be the traditional architecture, which was erected during the time of Imperial China - the Gate of Tiananmen. They, in fact, are considered the main symbol of the state. The Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City are also the main places where tourists wish to go.

The second architectural style appeared in the 50-70s of the last century. It should be noted that it has small similarities with Soviet buildings. The third style is modern. The main part of such buildings is in the central part of the city.

Area "Art Zone 798" is a place with many sights. Also, it should be noted that here you can see the blending of all architectural styles. It looks pretty attractive and very elegant.

Economy of the city

Unfortunately, the capital of the People's Republic of China is not well developed economy. The economy of the city rests on real estate and the automobile sector.

In the central business district of Beijing is a huge number of VIP-housing, headquarters and shopping centers. The "financial heart" of the city can be called the street, which is located in the districts of Fuchenmen and Fusinmen. "Silicon Valley of China" became famous as the main shopping center, here the computer and electronic sphere, pharmaceuticals are widely developed. The industrial zone is named Shijingshan, which is located on the outskirts of Beijing. Agriculture is based on the cultivation of corn and wheat.

The capital of the People's Republic of China has long been in demand as a place of conducting a successful business. Thanks to Chinese and foreign corporations, which locate their headquarters in Beijing, it starts to develop faster. Despite the fact that the economic center of the state is Shanghai, the capital is still called the business center. This is due to the fact that in the first there are many small firms and companies, and in Beijing large ones dominate.

Due to the fact that the capital is trying to develop fast enough in the economic sphere, the living conditions in it have significantly worsened. The first proof can be called smog, which in recent years attacked Beijing. Residents often complain about high prices, poor water quality. In order to solve this problem, the authorities ordered the entrepreneurs to make production at the plants cleaner, and those who can not do this must move to another city.

Population

An interesting question that can be considered when talking about such an important center as the capital of the PRC is the population. Here live more than 21 million people, some of them live without a residence permit, but only with a temporary permit. Moreover, there are about 10 million migrants in the city who came to earn money. They are the most unprotected layer of the population, used as a cheap labor force.

95% of the residents are Han (also called native Chinese). The remaining 5% of the population are Manchus, Dungans, Mongols, etc. The capital of the People's Republic of China has become home to many foreign entrepreneurs and students. As a rule, visitors settle in the northern, eastern and north-eastern districts of the city. If we talk about the diasporas that live here, the largest is the South Korean.
