Tape Fuma: use and description

Phuma tape is a thread-sealing fluoroplastic material, which represents an unsintered film produced by rolling up a bundle. In appearance, the product is a snow-white flexible tape intended for sealing the threads of pipeline connections . The material can be used in any conditions: at a temperature from minus 60 to plus 200 degrees Celsius and a pressure of up to 10 MPa. In some cases, it is permissible to use a means for the reinforcement, which operates at a pressure of 40 MPa.

Depending on the operating conditions, a tape of three marks is distinguished.

The first is produced in two varieties. It is used for compaction of systems operating with common industrial type environments, with structures through which concentrated and diluted acids and alkalis are transferred. This Feed band contains grease from petroleum jelly.

The second grade is designed to seal systems that work with potent oxidants and solutions.

The third one also withstands the influence of an aggressive environment and represents the edge parts of the tape of the first two grades, as well as the special SKL film.

In addition to the described options, the Tapa tape is produced, which is intended for retail trade. It is also used in everyday life.

There are rules for working with the material. Before installing the valve, which must be sealed, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the rust and dirt of the thread. You can use gasoline for this. Fum-tape or tow should be wound on the thread of the plug or valve in the course of the thread from the beginning. Each subsequent turn must partly overlap the previous part of the material. To prevent the formation of folds and wrinkles, which fold when screwing the cap and lead to the decompression of the joints, the tape should be reeled in a stretch.

To facilitate the work, it is necessary to use the material together with the roll, which is pressed against the threaded part, moving around the circumference. After the winding is finished, the tape should be pressed firmly against the thread, slightly scrolling with your fingers. After the seal has been created, it is possible to start screwing the parts, for example, a crane. This should be done with effort, the Phuma tape (or tow) is kneaded and occupies the entire space between the threads of both components of the structure.

If the plumbing fixtures are twisted too easily, the tape should be wound up until the screwing is done with force. In this case, the material should be slightly protruded at the place of joining the pipe and the crane. When everything is done, you should open the water and see if there are any leaks.

A gas strip for gas is also produced, which makes it possible to compact this type of connection.

The advantage of the material is its elasticity. The Phuma tape does not undergo destruction, it does not allow corrosion to form on the fasteners. If necessary, change something in the water pipe, disassembly of the parts will not be difficult, which is difficult to say about the seals created on the basis of flax or pakli.
