In Russia there is a powerful transport complex - the Sverdlovsk Railway. This highway passes through the territory of Western Siberia and the Urals. The railways of the Sverdlovsk region are in the first three RZD. Further we learn about the history of the construction of the highway. The article will also tell about the unique museum of the Sverdlovsk Railway existing in Yekaterinburg.

General information

The Sverdlovsk branch of the railway ensures uninterrupted passage of trains from the north-western and central regions of our country to Kazakhstan, Siberia and the Far East. This highway is built in a special way. So, it borders on the South Ural, Gorky and West Siberian railways. This transport complex provides more than 9.5% of the total loading and unloading of highly profitable cargo. Namely: transportation of oil, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, coal, construction and forestry materials is carried out. The Directorate of the Sverdlovsk Railway does everything possible to ensure the safety, smoothness and comfort of transportation. The head is A. Yu. Mironov, the first deputy head - V. V. Iskorostensky. The chief engineer of the Svjod is IO Naboichenko. The Sverdlovsk Railway provides cargo transportation for more than 12,000 industrial companies. In addition, it serves about 1,500 access roads. The Sverdlovsk regional woodworking, coal mining and mining companies have a network of small access lines and branches.

History of creation

The first project, according to which the Sverdlovsk Railway was to be built, was put forward by entrepreneur I. I. Lyubimov. This important event occurred in 1868. At his suggestion, the scheme of the Sverdlovsk Railway suggested a branch from Perm to Tobol, crossing such cities as Yekaterinburg, Kungur and Shadrinsk. After a short period of time, the government decided to conduct survey work on the ground. After this, the main construction of the route began. Such a responsible event was entrusted to the "Society of the mining railway". The main works on alienation of lands, deforestation and demolition of buildings began already in 1870. In the same period, they began building bridges, constructing temporary roads and building a telegraph.

After eight years of construction work, the first branch with a length of 669 versts was opened. The starting point of the way was Perm, and the final destination was the city of Yekaterinburg. By the end of 1885 a railway branch from Ekaterinburg to Tyumen was put into operation. And it was not until the beginning of 1888 that this path was combined with the Gornozavodskaya road into one route, which was called the Ural Highway. 1896 marked the end of the construction of a branch from Ekaterinburg to Chelyabinsk. Thanks to the creation of this line, the Sverdlovsk Railway was merged with the Trans-Siberian Railway. Due to the fact that the throughput of the mining site was extremely small, in 1906 they decided to build a new line across the Urals. And in three years on this railway track the first trains went. During the following years, the Theological, West-Ural and Omsk railways were connected to the Perm highway. Since the 30s of the last century, they have been subjected to several reorganizations. However, as a result, the Perm and Sverdlovsk branches were merged. This event happened in 1953.

Museum of the Sverdlovsk Railway

In 2003, the gallery opened a gallery of history, science and technology of the St. Petersburg Railway. For information, the old "harbor" for trains was built by the architect P. P. Schreiber. Now this building is a monument of history and culture of the XIX century.

The Parade Exposition

In front of the building there is an open area, in the territory of which there is a number of sculptures. These works of architecture embody the railway professions of different eras. For example, here you can meet the sculpture of the station's head, who, by blowing the bell, notifies the passengers about the departure of the train. Also in front of the building there is a group of "travelers". With this sculpture the author illustrates the reality that passengers encounter at the station. In addition, on the square in front of the building of the museum there are visual exhibits of the railway industry. Here you can see a semaphore, a truck of passers, designed to carry sleepers, a barrier equipped with a signaling device and so on.

Exhibits

The interior exposition of the gallery is represented by items of both technical and historical nature. When creating the first category decided to use the principle of the game. This approach to the case was due to the fact that not all visitors understand the railway terminology. In view of this, the platform of the Ekaterinburg railway station of the XIX century was recreated. What is characteristic, the composition turned out to be extremely realistic and similar to the original. This effect was achieved thanks to the surviving photographs of the platform. On the platform, the authors of the exposition placed passengers, benches, a stationary bell and even luggage. The historical part of the museum is represented by the first Russian locomotive, which was developed by the father and son of Cherepanov. However, this exposition is not limited to "old" exhibits. Visitors to the museum can get acquainted with modern railway achievements. For this purpose, detailed information on the construction of the first highways is presented here, the history of the formation and commissioning of the Perm and Ural Gornozavodskaya lines and so on is told. It should be noted that the museum staff at the creation of expositions sought to reflect historical and technical data in chronological order.

additional information

Mock-ups and models of rolling stock are widely represented in the Yekaterinburg Museum of History, Science and Technology . In addition, there are collections of visual artifacts. For example, visitors can get acquainted with the workplace of the locomotive driver L11. In addition, all interested persons are invited to study the mechanisms, tools and various adaptations used in the railway industry.

Conclusion

Visiting card of St. Petersburg is the road museum of Ekaterinburg. What is characteristic, the exhibits presented in it will be of interest not only to the adult population, but also to small visitors. The gallery performs two functions simultaneously. On the one hand, even an uninformed in railway science visitor can easily perceive the technical part of the compositions. And on the other hand, all the objects of the gallery help a person expand his horizons, and in some cases even decide on the choice of profession.
