What is a PO Box and how does it differ from the usual

A user box is a special box that is closed for incoming correspondence. Unlike a regular mailbox, it is located not in the actual or legal place of residence of the addressee, but in the post office. Therefore, on letters, postcards and parcels sent to such a mailbox, only the index, city and mailbox number are indicated, so that information about the addressee can remain a secret.

In the post office, the user box looks almost like the usual: it's a metal box with cells, each of which has its own number. The cell, like the mailbox in the entrance, is locked, to which only one key fits.

All correspondence arriving at the subscriber's box stays in the post office, so this box is very reliable: no hooligans will set fire to it and will not pull out any important letter from it. On the other hand, to access it, you do not have to defend a long queue, present documents or fill out forms: it's enough to visit the post office in the hours of its operation, open the box with your key and collect everything that has accumulated in it.

How to use the subscriber box

To begin with, you need to choose a post office, which is located in the most convenient place and works at the right time. First the future subscriber writes the application, then fills the contract with his individual number, which will later become the number of his box, and the post office will register the subscriber's box. Russian Post provides this service for a fee, in contrast, for example, from mail in Switzerland or Germany. Therefore, after completing all the necessary documents, you need to pay a certain amount. And in a few days to receive, finally, a certified contract and a key to the box.

But not everything is so simple. This service is quite popular. And to find a free box in the right post office is not always possible. In such cases, it is possible to rent a subscriber box: the post office of Russia allows such an opportunity. The lucky owner of his own box needs to inform the interested party about his number, draw up and conclude a lease and get paid. Tenants can even be several, and then the owner of the box assigns each of them additional numbers and sorts all incoming correspondence according to them.
