Sports-ballroom dance is a beautiful and useful sport

Sports-ballroom dance is an incredibly beautiful art that enjoys great popularity in the modern world. And if a few years ago to find a dance section for adults was a problem, today almost every large fitness center offers its own training program. So what is this sport? Where is the best way to dance? What successes can be achieved? These questions are of interest to many.

Sports-ballroom dance: what is it?

In fact, under such a complicated term all the famous ballroom dances, from the classical slow waltz to the passionate and emotional rumba, are hidden. Today, sports and ballroom dance is in great demand. After all, everyone knows that regular exercise has a good effect on health. And if jogging in the mornings or routine strength exercises can get bored with time, dancing is the kind of sport that always remains interesting. After all, this is not just physical exertion, but also a full-fledged art of emotion transfer, which allows you to learn how to master your own body perfectly.

And before you decide to start classes, it is worth noting that today there are two main dance programs.

What does the European program of sports ballroom dance look like?

This program includes all five famous dances - a slow waltz, slow foxtrot, tango, Viennese waltz and quickstep. At one time it was these dances that served as a way of mass entertainment, but with the advent of faster, more energetic species, the popularity of classical varieties began to fall sharply.

But today European ballroom dances got a second wind. Classes like this sport will help improve posture and make the movements more graceful. In addition, over the past few years, classical varieties of dances have been somewhat modernized.

Latin American Program

It's no secret that Latin American dances are extremely emotional, passionate and, compared to European, much more free and energetic. This program includes such dances as cha-cha-cha, jive, samba, pasodoble and rumba. By the way, almost whole body moves in this dance, and the rhythm of music is very fast. Such exercises will help bring the body into tone, strengthen muscles and increase flexibility.

Is it worth doing dancing at home?

Yes, dance classes at home have their advantages. Find material for training is easy - dance programs are sold on discs, and on the Internet they are full. It seems everything is simple - look and repeat. Do not have to pay for a subscription in the club, and there will be no need to change your usual work schedule. After all, you can do it yourself at any time of the day.

On the other hand, there are some drawbacks. After all, next to you will not be an experienced specialist who will show how to properly do this or that movement. There will not be people around who are pursuing the same goal as you, and are ready to provide moral support. And, of course, do not forget that this is a pair dance, for which a partner is necessary. And you are unlikely to get into the tournament in sports ballroom dancing. Therefore, if you have money and the opportunity to study outside of your home - go to a club or fitness center.

Club of sports ballroom dances: advantages of group lessons

Almost every large fitness center has special dance programs, the main purpose of which is figure correction and improvement of well-being. In addition, in your city for sure there is a suitable studio of sports ballroom dance.

First of all, you need to choose a suitable group, for example, by age, health, etc. - with this you should help the coach. By the way, the teacher is also an important part of training, since the final result will depend on his skill, attention and assertiveness.

Group classes provide training in a group of 4-12 people, of course, with a partner. Of course, regular classes can not only solve a lot of problems with physical health, but also find new friends and expand the circle of communication. Why strive for a person who adores sports ballroom dances? Competitions and winning in them - this is what becomes a wonderful motivation and provides the presence of excitement and desire to train more.

It is considered that only professional dancers can participate in tournaments. In fact, today there are competitions for people of different levels of training, starting with novice amateurs and ending with real professionals. Of course, participation in the tournament will entail additional costs. For example, you will need to pay the entrance fee. In addition, you will need a beautiful costume and shoes for ballroom dancing, which are not so cheap. And if you are determined to win, you may have to take additional individual lessons. Nevertheless, the victory in the competition, even if amateur, will still be pleasant.

What clothes are needed for classes?

Of course, sports-ballroom dance can not be imagined without proper clothing. Moreover, the quality of training depends on it. After all, if clothes or shoes are uncomfortable, then moving is much more difficult, and sometimes more dangerous.

Start buying a training "outfit", perhaps, is with shoes. After all, it's not a secret for anyone that dancers on the floor perform in heels. And your casual shoes here will not work - an attempt to dance in ordinary shoes can result in a strong stretch or even a dislocation. If you are going to study in the Latin American program, then choose sandals with an easily curved sole and a short arch support. But shoes for classical ballroom dance should be well fixed finger and heel. These shoes can be purchased at specialty stores. But it may not be necessary for you - for amateur training suitable and comfortable sneakers.

As for training clothes, there is one single rule - it should be comfortable. Therefore, it is best to dance in elastic leggings or sports pants. By the way, some women prefer to buy special training dresses.

Beautiful clothes will be needed only if you are going to the competition of sports ballroom dancing. After all, the judges separately assess not only the skill, but also the outfits of the dancers. With the help of a properly selected costume, you can create an image corresponding to the dance. If you study the European direction, then the form of clothing here is strict - women appear in long dresses with narrowed waist and gloves to the elbows, and men dance in dark dress coats.

But the requirements for the Latin American style are more relaxed, because these dances are always passionate and provocative - women dress in tight short dresses, and men appear in special body and trousers.

Sports-ballroom dancing for weight loss - is it effective?

In the modern world, there are many ways to get rid of excess weight. And since dancing is a sports training, then, of course, with their help you can improve the figure. After all, during the dance, the body spends a huge amount of energy.

In addition, the dances strengthen the muscles of the legs, arms, press and back, removing excess centimeters and, moreover, tightening the skin and giving the body tone. Of course, in order to get rid of excess weight in a short time, intensive training is needed. Specialists recommend practicing for an hour and a half 3-4 times a week. And it is necessary to correct the power system. Strict diets in this case are contraindicated, because the body needs energy and strength for training. But here the amount of fat and digestible carbohydrates (sugar) should be limited.

The benefit and harm of sports dancing

In fact, sports ballroom dance will help solve a lot of problems - both physical and psychological. To begin with, it is worth noting that regular training strengthens muscles, increases stamina and adds strength. In addition, dance aerobics can strengthen the cardiovascular system. With the help of dances, you can get rid of a lot of problems, including various curvatures of the spine, improve posture, make the muscles more elastic, and the movements graceful. And, of course, dancing is a wonderful and fun pastime that improves mood, increases self-esteem and makes you a star on the dance floor.

As for the harm, then, of course, there is. Injuries, stretching, deformation of the joints - this is what can lead to regular debilitating workouts. On the other hand, such "side effects" are most often found in professional dancers who work in the gym without any problems, regularly attend competitions in sports ballroom dances and build a sports career. But amateur training under the supervision of an experienced coach threatens only with muscle pain, and then only in the first few weeks.

Are there any contraindications to training?

Certainly, sports and ballroom dances are by far not everyone's strength. And, yes, there are some contraindications. In particular, activities can not be conducted with people who have recently undergone surgical intervention or serious trauma. Relative contraindications include any chronic diseases, as well as violations in the work of the heart and the vascular system, joint diseases.

But these contraindications are not in vain called relative, because classes are still possible. For example, even elderly people are engaged in ballroom dances, but here it is necessary to accurately determine the level of permitted load, and only an experienced trainer can conduct classes. By the way, training should be postponed for any inflammatory and infectious diseases - in this case it is better to wait for complete recovery.
