"Sea" - the elegy of Zhukovsky: the idea and analysis of the work

Elegy is a poem that comes from deep feelings embracing the poet. This is usually a sincere work and very personal. His sentimental reflections are sad, if, rather, are not full of deep sorrow. The poem "The Sea" (the elegance of VA Zhukovsky) fully meets these requirements.

Masha Protasova

Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky was an illegitimate child, which subsequently was not allowed to marry a lover. Her mother was so against the misalliance that she would prefer her daughter's death to her union with this man. That's how Masha looked in the eyes of Vasily Andreevich - young, tender and beautiful.

She was both intelligent, and sensitive, and deeply religious. She was so poetic that poetry turned everything around her. Could Zhukovsky not love? Of course not. Could he not suffer, knowing that happiness is unattainable? Of course not. He twice wooed to Mashenka, but both times he was categorically refused. A friend advised me to marry Masha. But the mother's obedience and religiousness did not allow the girl to agree to such a marriage. They both loved each other deeply and suffered, but the girl left after her sister in Dorpat. Now it is the city of Tartu. With Vasily Andreevich Mashenka vowed to keep friendship all her life, which turned out to be short. And Vasily Andreevich so deeply and strongly loved his beautiful muse, his beautiful guardian angel, that he never married.

His bitter happiness he carried through all his life. A girl in Dorpat married an unworthy person who only seemed decent in society, continuing to love Vasily Andreevich. The husband, being very jealous, did not allow Mashenka to meet with Zhukovsky. They both obeyed fate. They were separated by the Baltic Sea and personal circumstances. In 1822 the elegy "Sea" was written. The history of the creation of the poem, in fact, is dramatic.

Elegy

Let's begin the analysis of the elegy "The Sea" as an image of concrete human feelings. Conditionally 28 stanzas of the poem can be divided into seven unequal parts, in which the lyrical hero himself will be present, and the one about which he constantly thinks. Reflections on love, transmitted metaphorically, through the image of the water element, constitute the theme of elegies. In the first quatrain, the poet conveys his own state, using the image of the sea, as a metaphor for confused love and an alarming thought. In the second six-line verse, also through the image of the element of water, the lyrical hero, asking the sea, talks with his beloved.

He asks what it is in captivity. Gently and tenderly begs to be revealed to him. In the third six-line verse, inspiring the sea, the poet remembers the days of happiness with his beloved, when in the morning and in the evening everything was radiantly illuminated, everything was treated kindly and brought joy. In the next quatrain, he metaphorically says how a person behaves when his dream is taken from him. How he is tormented and struggling with all his strength.

This continues the analysis of the poem "The Sea". Elegy in his penultimate six-line speaks of a deceptive calm, which comes after a struggle with adversity. This is also a metaphor. It seems that all the alarms go away, but this view is deceptive. The two final stanzas speak of an internal turmoil, hidden deep, but causing trembling. Love with her doubts, and fear, and hope - the theme of elegy "The Sea" of Zhukovsky.

Nature as the prototype of Mary

The calm azure sea, raging, calming, stormy in its depths, is wholly and completely connected with Zhukovsky's image of Mary, so close to him and so far away. The theme and idea of the elegy "The Sea" of Zhukovsky are closely intertwined. Enchanted by the water element, he is forever devoted to the charms of Mary, Masha. Asking the sea, he asks a young girl to entrust him with his deep secret. He asks her, metaphorically turning herself into the sky, whether she is drawn to him, distant, light.

The poet reassures the beloved in that his thoughts are high and pure, but let her caress him and gleefully sparkle. He believes that if something prevents them from meeting, then Masha will stormily, like the elements of water, protest and rush about. But here the barriers disappear, as clouds and mist leave the sea, but Masha is still excited for a long time. She can not come to, and her calm appearance is deceptive. She is still afraid and, admiring the sky, that is, the poet, trembles for him, for their love. This is the deep analysis of the elegy "The Sea", if one knows the circumstances of the poet's love.

Part one

The poem is written in one breath, so quickly, so heartfelt that it did not even need to be divided into stanzas. The poem "The Sea" is an elegy in the full sense of the word, because it is sad and very personal. All that I wanted, but could not be expressed otherwise, the poet wrote metaphors in the Sea. Elegy is dramatic, if it is regarded as a poet-inspired world of nature. The way Zhukovsky began to treat nature became the herald of romanticism in Russian poetry. Fully her will animate the great F. Tyutchev. He will find in her freedom, and love, and language. But this "Sea" begins. Elegy tells of the poet's observation of the charm of the azure calm sea, which is ready to conduct a dialogue with a distant bright sky. The poet asks him if he wants to approach the sea with a sky as big as it is, but, unlike the earth, firmly holding in his arms, light and airy, not burdensome.

Part two

The bright sky fills the sea with azure, makes it burn with light. Golden clouds caress the sea. Elegy tells how joyfully the night stars are reflected in the sea. If the sky is the soul of man, the sea is its secret, unknown and invisible world. The soul rises to heaven to experience bliss. But its second part - water - with apparent serenity and peace is always worried.

Part Three

The excitement of the sea can go into a storm. And then - all, beware. Do not take away the storm clouds by the clear blue sea. It will fiercely fight, turn into gray and lead, but its peace and peace will end, it will end the haze.

Part Four

The work "Sea" - elegy two-faced. After a storm and a storm, the poet analyzes what he saw. He sees how clouds and mist are dispersing, the sky is again shining with azure, but the sea has long remembered the bad weather, everything is bubbling and bubbling inside. The waves are rising for a long time. Even at first glance, calmed down, in an inner confusion the sea is afraid of losing the sky with its sweet shine.

Conclusion

The poem was written in 1822, but was printed much later, seven years later, when Maria Protasova was no longer alive. She died in childbirth. Sharp pain passed, and already personal disappeared under the waves of the sea. The elegy, written by the amphibrachie, conveys the waving of the waves. In it there is no rhyme familiar to the poem. This is a white verse that gives the work greatness and solemnity. They also emphasize that a person in any circumstances should remain a man. When it does not, the sky will shine and the waves of the sea beat against the shore.
