Samara Academic Drama Theater. M. Gorky, whose history dates back to the 19th century, is located in a very beautiful and ancient building. Spectators affectionately call it a gingerbread house. The repertoire of the theater includes both serious productions and performances that are designed to entertain the public.

History of the theater

Samara Academic Drama Theater. M. Gorky, photo of the building of which is presented in this article, was opened in 1851. In 1888, for him, was built a room in which it is located so far.

The Samara Theater was the first to stage a performance in Russia based on the work of M. Gorky. It was a play by Foma Gordeyev. In 1926 there were two significant events for the theater: he acquired the status of state, and he had his own troupe.

In 1936, Maxim Gorky died. Then the theater was given his name.

In the 60s of the XX century the troupe went on tour to the capital. In Moscow artists were 35 days. The Samara Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky brought several performances to the capital's audience. The performances of the troupe were held on two venues.

Honorary title "Academic", the theater was awarded in 1977. And in 1988 he received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

In 1996, the famous director Dmitry Astrakhan staged the performance "Give me the moonlight" in the Melpomene church in Samara.

In 2003, the theater faced the following challenge: to attract as many viewers as possible. For three months the troupe has released several premieres.

In the same year, the theater decided to expand the creative horizons and took on a new genre for the musical. The first musical performance in the repertoire was a work called "The Sound of Music".

In 2005, Professor V. Filshtinsky came to the theater. He conducted a creative laboratory for the company, which was organized to improve the qualifications of the artists. For the troupe, classes were conducted on plastic, acting and stage language.

In 2011 the theater was on tour in Israel. The troupe played its performances in six cities of this country. The tour was a great success, the press, critics and spectators responded positively to the staging of the Samara drama. In the same year, the auditorium of the theater was renovated.

2011 was a jubilee year for the Samara drama - the theater turned 160 years old. The holiday was solemn and fun. In the first section, artists presented skits, and in the second - friends and colleagues congratulated each other on the anniversary of their native theater.

Today the main director of the Samara drama is Valery V. Grishko. The general director of the theater is Vyacheslav Alekseevich Gvozdkov.

"Monsieur Amilcar"

Samara Academic Drama Theater. M. Gorky this season presents the production of "Monsieur Amilcar, or the Man Who Pays". This is the story of a secured, attractive and rich man. He is lonely, but he wants human warmth, and the man cherishes the dream of having a family and a friend. The hero solves this problem in a peculiar way, attracting money to this. Monsieur Amilcar arranges a home theater. He hires a homeless person, defining to him the role of a best friend, an unemployed actress as a wife and a young priestess of love as a daughter. All these people live in the house of Amilkar and play the roles that he offered them. At first they are not good at it. But gradually they begin to believe in the proposed circumstances and already really live the lives of their characters, experience real emotions and feelings.

Visiting rules

Samara Academic Drama Theater. M. Gorky presents the audience a number of requirements that must be observed when attending performances. If the guest is late, then he is not allowed into the hall until the intermission. Purchased tickets can be returned or exchanged only if the performance is postponed to another date, replaced or canceled. It is forbidden to enter the hall in outer clothing, bring large rucksacks, suitcases, cameras, players, video cameras, drinks and food. Mobile phones should be disabled, as it is forbidden to talk on them during the performance.
