Rotary engine. Advantages and disadvantages
The converted motion of the reciprocating character is completely absent in the rotary engine. The formation of pressure occurs in those chambers that are created with the help of convex surfaces of a rotor of triangular shape and different parts of the body. The rotor rotates by means of combustion. This can lead to a reduction in vibration and increase the speed of rotation. Due to the increased efficiency that is thus caused, the rotary engine has dimensions much smaller than the conventional piston engine of equivalent power.
Inside the rotor there is a small gear with external teeth, which is attached to the body. The pinion, which is larger in diameter, is connected to this fixed pinion, which sets the path of the rotary movements of the rotor inside the housing itself. The teeth of the larger gear are internal.
For the reason that, together with the output shaft, the rotor is eccentric, the shaft rotation is similar to how the handle rotates the crankshaft. The output shaft will rotate three times for each of the rotor revolutions.
The rotary engine has such dimensions, which are much smaller than the usual engine of the corresponding power. Due to the smaller dimensions of the engine, the handling will be much better, and also the car itself will become more spacious, both for passengers and for the driver.
All of the parts of the rotary engine perform continuous rotational movements in the same direction. Change their movement is the same as the pistons of the traditional engine. Rotary engines are internally balanced. This leads to a decrease in the level of vibration. The power of the rotary engine is given out much more smoothly and evenly.
