"Volga" 3111 - a work of art of the Soviet auto industry

Few people know that the Soviet automotive industry produced a car that was considered a business-class model throughout Europe and according to modern classification would belong to the E2 class. The "Volga" 3111 (under this name the vehicle was sold) was a luxury item that only the elite could afford. This car was produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant in the period from 1998 to 2004. In total, the world saw approximately 424 copies of GAZ-3111 Volga, but the exact number of these cars could not be ascertained to this day.

Let's look at some facts about the production of this car.

Before the world saw the first pilot lot of the Volga GAZ-3111, all cars had only plastic decorative details, both external and internal, which were produced by Buran-Stiling. In order to launch the Volga 3111 into mass production, special machines were ordered, namely press stamps that were developed and manufactured by Intercos-IV. Probably, almost all 424 copies of the Volga 3111 car were purchased by employees of state structures, the government and the top administration administration. An important fact that speaks about the excellent design and comfort of this car is that the Volga GAZ-3111 is still in the personal possession of some mayors of the Russian Federation. One of these cars was modified by a special tuning organization, after which under its hood appeared a significant difference from its counterparts - a six-liter Japanese engine from Toyota. Ironically, although the car is quite old, but like its new fellow foreign cars, it had a stretcher and a front suspension like the MacFerson.

Technical characteristics and design of the car

"Volga" 3111 has a very dynamic and at the same time a solid design. It is immediately evident that this machine is designed to be admired by others. The streamlined forms of the car provide good aerodynamics, as well as hide the powerful side impact protection. The power structure of the car was developed according to all technical standards of modern times and meets all the requirements of active and passive protection of the car. Salon "Volga" is also very much changed: reserved seats for airbags, new leather seats, many new switches that were borrowed from expensive foreign cars. Also changed and the technical filling of the car. For example, air vent pipes on the idea of designers came out directly from the rear bumper. The car was built-in climate control with several modes of operation.

The car came in series sales in several trim levels, the most powerful of which was a complete set with a 16-cylinder engine of 195 horsepower. The steering of this car was also one step ahead in comparison with its previous models. For the first time a power steering was installed on the Russian car .

It is a pity that the production of this car was discontinued.
