Diabetes mellitus, in recent times, has become a huge spread throughout the world. Officially, diabetes affects about 5 percent of the world's population. And this is only official indicators, but in fact how many people get sick and do not know about it or just do not go to the doctor and do not stand by the endocrinologist. Diabetes mellitus differs in two categories: type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus affects about 10 percent of all patients, the remaining 90 percent are ill with type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is mainly from an early age, the age threshold is about 14 years. The average age threshold of patients with type 2 diabetes is 60 years old.

In type 1 diabetes, insulin is used, the second type uses sugar-reducing tablets, sometimes together with insulin. With type 1 diabetes in the patient's body, the pancreas produces a small amount of insulin, as a result of the death of betta cells. In diabetes of the second type, insulin is produced in sufficient quantity, but because of obesity characteristic of patients with type 2 diabetes, not all cells have enough pancreatic insulin to be produced or cells simply do not absorb insulin, resulting in an increase in glucose in the blood. The main consumers of sugar are muscles and the brain. But with insulin deficiency, they can not process the amount of sugar in the blood.

Almost all organs and systems suffer from diabetes, especially the eyes, kidneys, liver, blood vessels, skin and nervous tissue. In the eyes are small blood vessels, so most often they are affected. If you do not pay attention to diabetes, you may experience loss of vision, which can lead to cataracts and complete blindness.
