Roll the field: what kind of plant is it?
In a family of carnations, there are enough beautiful and original species. Of course, the notorious carnations are most famous, but there are other original plant varieties. To the most original and distinctive one can be referred to the rolling-field. This interesting plant is included in the genus "shake." The biological name of the species is a swing panicle.
The thing is that after flowering it is separated from the rhizome and can be freely carried away by the wind in any direction. For what was it done by nature? It's simple: the roll-field multiplies. Rolled by the wind through the steppe, it disperses its ripened seeds in huge quantities. That is why varieties of this genus are so common in the steppe zones.
Yes, yes, do not think that there is another weed in front of you! Kachim is very popular with professional gardeners. There are even a lot of specialized garden varieties, which as a result of long and systematic selection already remind little of their wild and "troubled" ancestors. However, their original and immediately noticeable spherical shape did not go away. It is thanks to its sphericity that we have earned the love of gardeners, because this form is completely natural and does not need to be specially formed during the growing season.
What care does this wonderful floral ball require when planted in the garden? It should be said that if the plant inherited something from its wild relatives, it is the utmost unpretentiousness. Kachim magnificently grows even on poor soils and practically does not need any kind of additional fertilizing. Of course, a certain amount of humus will do him good, but it's not worth diligently watering the rolled-up field. Otherwise, its root system may simply rot away. In addition, do not forget that this flower needs good sunlight, so you do not need to plant it in semi-shadowed and shady places, since it does not like it much.
It must be said that the peculiarity of this species was repeatedly noticed by the people, who gave him a number of amusing nicknames. For example, its second name, "Kolya-perekati-pole", is quite widely known. This highlights the impermanence and changeable temper of Kachima, which is similar to some people.
