"Rocket" is a motor ship, one of the few that, having begun its journey almost fifty years ago, successfully continue it to this day to the delight of people.

First Descent

The first "Rocket" was launched on the Moskva River in 1957. Its descent was timed to the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students (well, how here without romance!).

Accepted the "Rocket" Khrushchev. He was so impressed with its speed, maneuverability and design that he honored the designers-developers led by Rostislav Alekseev of the Lenin Prize.

At the festival there was a parade of ships, which in 1957 opened the "Rocket". The ship was greeted with a storm of applause from the participants and close attention of foreign guests.

Technology of the future

The "rocket" is a hydrofoil ship. For the middle of the twentieth century this, of course, was a breakthrough. It developed speeds of up to sixty kilometers per hour, was intended for the carriage of passengers, but had compact dimensions, which allowed it to move comfortably along rivers and pass under bridges.

For nearly fifteen years of production, about four hundred "Rocket" were launched. Thirty-two of them went for export.

"Rocket" - a motor ship-prototype. She became the ancestor of passenger hydrofoil boats, and her name - a household name. And now the "rockets" are called almost all similar to it on the design of the court.

With its appearance, it became much easier to get to hard-to-reach places on the water, this was a great help to people living along the banks of the great rivers of our Motherland.
