Geographical features

City history

The first mention of the city of Yarovo can be attributed to 1941, when a memorandum addressed to the Minister of Chemical Industry of the USSR detailed the arguments justifying the need to create a bromine plant on the shore of a salt lake. As a result, a year later, in wartime, work began on erecting the Slavgorod Chemical Plant, which needed large reserves of salt water. It was thanks to defense production that these territories were for a long time considered closed, and information about the uniqueness and beauty of local natural resources was absent. The foundation of the city, next to which is the lake of the same name, is dated to 1943. At that time a small settlement was formed at this place, inhabited by chemists evacuated to the Altai Territory, and already in 1944 the production of chemical products was started. And more recently (by historical standards) - in March 1993 - the town received the status of the town.

Modern realities

Now Yarovoye has become a modern, fairly compact city with a population of over 18 thousand people.
