Religion of Japan - harmony of world cults and doctrines

Japan is one of the most developed capitalist countries, which is a vivid example of how a high level of economy, modern way of life and ancient religious traditions harmoniously coexist with each other. There are no rigid limits in the choice of religion, moreover, almost every Japanese person does not relate himself to any one faith. About 70 percent of the population are considered atheists, although practically all residents of the country of the rising sun throughout their life resort to rituals and rituals of various religions. So, the ceremony of marriage is carried out according to the canons of Shintoism or Christianity, and funerals for the dead are always performed in Buddhist temples. Almost a third of the entire population during the New Year celebrations makes mass pilgrimages to Buddhist temples and sanctuaries. The opening of various businesses and shops is also accompanied by religious rituals.

Religion of Japan - Shintoism

This religion is considered the oldest, it appeared in feudal Japan. Shinto is based on worshiping various deities and cult of the deceased spirits. Literally the term "Shintoism" can be translated as "the way of the gods".

The ancient system of religious views says that most things and phenomena have a spiritual essence - kami. Invisible to the human eye, life can exist in an earthly material object, which in traditional sense is not animate, that is, it can be a stone, a tree, a certain sacred place (temple, monument) or even a natural object (mountains, hills, rivers). Also kami can personify the phenomena of nature. All other spiritual beings (most often the spirits of dead ancestors), in the opinion of Shinto worshipers, are patrons of families or whole families. Kami are incorruptible and involved in a constant cycle of death and birth.

This religion of Japan popularizes life in harmony and harmony with people and nature, it unites the whole world in a single environment. In the Shinto very peculiar concept of good and evil, alien to the perception of a European man. Thus, the enmity between antagonistic kamis is considered quite natural. Shinto does not forbid, but rather even encourages protection from evil entities or even their submission through specific rituals. At the same time, the religion promotes the effectiveness of amulets and talismans, magic and totemism.

The main religion of Japan is Buddhism

This is perhaps the most common belief in the country of the rising sun, which appeared in the 6th century. His distributors were five monks who came from the "Country of the Red East" - probably it was Korea and India.

For 1.5 thousand years of its existence, the religion of Japan has become very heterogeneous. So, at the present time there is a huge number of Buddhist schools and schools specializing in absolutely different aspects of the ancient teachings. Some preach philosophy, others - the art of meditation, the third - culture, the fourth - the reading of mantras and knowledge of rituals.

Despite such "diversity" and the variety of schools of Buddhism, they are all in demand and popular among various segments of the population - monks, scientists, politicians, ordinary people.

Religion of Japan - Christianity

In the 16th century, Christianity came to the country, and it should be noted that the preachers of this faith were not greeted with friendliness: most of the missionaries were executed, the other - renounced his faith, the third - went underground. The reason for this was too active an invasion of Catholicism in the political sphere.

Today, this religion of Japan, like all others, has come out of the category of taboo. Moreover, almost 17 percent of the inhabitants of the country consider themselves to be true Christians.
