Reflux-esophagitis: treatment

Such a disease as reflux-esophagitis occurs quite often. This ailment arises in connection with the pathology of the closing function of the cardiac sphincter (muscle valve) located between the stomach and esophagus. As a result, the contents of the stomach together with hydrochloric acid without obstacles enter the esophagus, where, acting on the mucous membrane, causes its inflammation.

How to identify reflux esophagitis?

Treatment should be started if you notice the following signs: heartburn, relapse with food or air, regurgitation, pain in the pit of your stomach or behind your sternum, irradiating to the left shoulder or heart area, reminiscent of seizures Angina pectoris.

The disease can intensify when straining, lifting weights, overeating, frequent slopes forward and abuse of alcohol. Quite often, the disease manifests itself in chronic gastritis, hernia of the esophagus, ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, obesity and cholelithiasis.

In order to determine the cause of poor health, it is necessary to contact a polyclinic. Detect reflux esophagitis, the treatment of which is medicated, can be done with the help of certain research methods, such as esophagogomanometry, esophagogastroscopy and fluoroscopy.

With this disease it is recommended to adhere to dietary nutrition and avoid heavy physical exertion.

Types of the disease

Catarrhal reflux-esophagitis is observed quite often. Its main signs are puffiness and hyperemia of the esophageal mucosa. The disease begins to progress after eating citrus, chocolate, tomatoes and alcohol.

Erosive reflux esophagitis causes deeper inflammation of the mucosa, resulting in erosion and ulceration on it. For this type of disease is characterized by the fact that the exfoliated part of the mucosa can go out together with the vomit.

Reflux esophagitis. Treatment

In order to neutralize the aggressive acid of the stomach, increase the tone of the sphincter and esophagus, and also protect the mucous, the doctor prescribes drug therapy. A good result is observed when taking patients with alkaline drugs, such as "Maalox", "Megalac", "Fosfalugel", "Topalcan". These agents have an enveloping, anti-acid and astringent effect, having an anti-inflammatory effect. It is important to use these medications at night (before going to sleep), as it is at this time of day that the acidity of the stomach contents increases.

It is also possible to use a mixture of white clay, calcium carbonate and bismuth nitrate, taken in the same amount. Mix all the preparations, add ¼ of a glass of water and take 4 times a day.

With reflux-esophagitis, treatment should be accompanied by a proper diet. It is recommended to eat small meals in small quantities, but 5 times a day. 4 hours before bedtime, you should refrain from eating any products. It is not necessary to go to rest immediately after dinner, you need to walk a bit, this will speed up the evacuation of food into the intestines.

The following products are considered to be the most useful: sour cream, soft-boiled eggs, milk, porridges, grated cottage cheese of low-fat varieties, fish or meat soufflé, soaked bread and biscuits, steam meatballs, grated or baked apples.

Refuse products that cause bloating, they can include cabbage, mushrooms, black bread, green peas, chocolate, beans, carbonated and alcoholic beverages.

Do not lift heavy objects weighing more than 6 kilograms, wear a bandage or a dark belt. It is most convenient to sleep on several pillows, so that the head and upper part of the trunk are slightly raised. This will prevent the transfer of gastric contents into the esophagus, thereby removing unpleasant symptoms of the disease.
