Rabbits: breeding, growing, feeding, caring

Households and small farms often contain animals such as rabbits. Breeding, growing, feeding animals is quickly mastered by even inexperienced people. The benefits that can be extracted are very significant. From animals get skins, suitable for sewing fur coats and other products, fluff, as well as rabbit fat and dietary meat of high quality.

The technology of breeding rabbits depends on which direction in this lesson to choose. Today, a downward focus is singled out when a large part of the population (70%) is used only to collect fluff, while the remaining 30% give offspring and fluff. At the same time, slaughter of culled animals for meat is allowed.

Poultry rabbits are quite different. Breeding, growing, feeding in this case is aimed at obtaining large offspring, as well as specimens of considerable size (this increases the area of skins). From each rabbit a year (for no more than 4 okol) receive up to 25 rabbits. Usually bred breeds that have a dense hairline of equal height (black-brown, Viennese blue, silvery, white giant, marder, Soviet chinchilla). Get products in the form of leather can be from animals aged four to six months. Animal meat is slaughtered at about three months of age. The content is carried out in such a way that the damage to the skin of the animals is minimal.

Most often on farms are used so-called meat rabbits. Breeding, rearing, feeding here is sent to receive about 6 quarls per year. We take out the rabbits from the female at the age of the month (it is allowed to increase the suckling period to 45 days), after which the animals are fed with high-nutrient mixed fodders-concentrates until the age of 90-105 days.

Krolikovodchesky farms working in a mode of broiler farms, today are almost not widespread in Russia. How in this case are the rabbits kept? Breeding, growing, feeding is reduced to the fact that the best part of the food is given to the rabbits, who feed offspring until 60-70 days. After that the rabbits are given up for meat with live weight of about 2 kg. This method gives high safety to the young, but limits the number of rabbits that one female can feed and give birth (no more than 3 quarls per year).

Dilution and care (for rabbits need to be carefully monitored) very quickly yield results. Industrial maturity (optimal for reproduction) in these animals occurs in 5-6 months (biological - in three months with a little), and the pregnancy of females lasts about 30 days. On average, one female with a grown litter gives about a centner of meat per year. Today, rabbits are mainly in cages with a paddock for walking. Feeding rodents can be provided at the expense of grass, hay, twigs, but large farms use special food and additives for optimal development and healthy existence of animals. Rabbits consume relatively little food, but do it with enviable constancy. Therefore, hay and fresh water in the rabbit should always be.
