Cucumber bush: features and varieties

Shrubs are called short-stalked cucumbers. Most of them belong to bee-dusted and are used by growers for growing outdoors. However, grades suitable for planting under a film are derived. The bush of these cucumbers is original. Conventional varieties have whips more than 1 m long in length. In addition, they strongly branch. In the bush, they never grow longer than 80 cm. On one lash, there are no more than two branches. Cucumber bushy looks very beautiful. The fact is that the interstice is much shorter than the interstice, and therefore it seems much more leafy.

On small bushes, of course, a lot of greenery will not grow. Therefore, the yield of this type of cucumber is not too high. However, this is completely compensated by the ease of care and unpretentiousness of varieties. In addition, the bush cucumber differs in that it yields crops for no more than 20 days, which, together with early ripening, can be considered an undoubted advantage. The fruit ripens long before the main diseases of garden crops begin to develop, which allows to save the harvest in any year.

Since the bush cucumber does not grow too much, the aisles of this crop are much easier to process than for common varieties. The fruit of short-stemmed shrubs is compact and can easily enter any jar. Zelentsy can be used both in salads, and for marinating, and for pickling.

In order to get an even earlier harvest, a variety of bush cucumbers can be grown by seedling method. To do this, it is best to use peat cups. Optimal is the planting of seedlings in the ground at the age of twenty, in May-June. The distance between individual rows should be about forty-five centimeters, between plants in the row - 25 cm. Carry for bush cucumbers should be about the same as for ordinary ones. If the soil on the clay plot is a good solution, it will be covered with peat. You need to water them a little more often than long-stem varieties.

Immediately after transplant, seedlings can be covered with a film. This will protect the bush cucumbers from recurrent spring colds and will allow for an excellent harvest. However, it should be remembered that as soon as the plant reaches for the film, it must be removed, otherwise it will not be possible to avoid burns. In this respect, it is preferable to use non-woven fabric instead of polyethylene.

Cucumber bush because of its compactness is perfect for growing on small summer cottages and gardens. Zelenians of most varieties have excellent taste qualities. At the moment, breeders have a fairly large number of short-stemmed cucumbers. All their names, for example, Baby, Shorty, Toddler, indicate their compactness and belonging to the bush species.

The bush cucumbers are easy to care for, they are characterized by their yield and are suitable for pickling. All this, coupled with the compactness of the bush and good taste qualities makes it quite appropriate to grow them in the suburban areas. Especially in the case if the garden does not differ too large area.
