Preserve "Prisursky": description, flora, fauna, climate

On the territory of the Chuvash Republic there are several natural zones, which are under the protection of the state. It is a national park, a nature park, natural monuments, sanctuaries. Among these riches is the State Nature Reserve "Prisursky", which has a unique flora and fauna.

Description and Location

The reserve is located in the territory of the Chuvash Republic and is divided into three territories, which cover three regions - Alatyr, Yalchik and Batyrevsky. All of them occupy the central zone of Prisur forest. And on its slopes from the west and east are the basins of the rivers Sura and Volga. The average height of the massif varies from 120 to 180 m. But the highest point is 221 meters. From the north-east to south-west, there is a slight bias. Also on the territory of the river. Sura flows r. Lulya with tributaries (Sultanka, Orlik, Abachka).

What is it created for?

Preserve "Prisursky" (Chuvashia) is considered young, since it was organized in 1995. In its creation, the aim was to protect wetlands and southern taiga valley forests, as well as their fauna. The main task remained and is still the preservation of the species of the Russian desman, which is included in the Red Book of the country, as well as protect waterfowl that fly to the reservoirs from the wintering grounds.

Over time, the territory of the reserve was increased due to the fact that new areas were added to the east of Chuvashia. They are necessary to preserve the zones of steppe vegetation, where marmots prefer to settle. As a result, 9,1 thousand hectares of protected territory are located in the territory of the reserve.

The climate of the area

The Prisursky Reserve is located in a zone dominated by a temperate continental climate, so it is cold in winter, and with the onset of summer, heat comes. In January, the average temperature is about -12.5 FROM. The hottest is July, this month the average temperature of the thermometer is +19 FROM.

Flora of the reserve

The reserve "Prisursky" is filled with northern broad-leaved forests, where relatively few spruce grow. Also on the territory there are coniferous forests, but mostly these are minor forest areas where pine and spruce grows. The main "inhabitants" of deciduous forests are linden, aspen, birch, and in lesser quantity you can meet oak, alder and willow.

In the reservoirs of the reserve there is a floating water nut. It is a rare species that is listed in the Red Book of our country. Also in the list of rare plants that grow here are: open lumbago, Australian scabbard, watercote, water lobster, partitioned, globule.

Not far from the village of Surinsky in the Yalchinsk district you can see the plots with meadow steppe. So, here there is a bell of the Volga, a feather-grass feather-grass, an Austrian Astragalus, a simple onsmosis, a steppe timothy.

The relic steppe biogeocenosis grows in Batyrevsky zone.

Thus, the "Prisursky" reserve on its territory has preserved about 1000 species of vegetation and additionally 120 varieties of mushrooms. Among the plants there are 70 lichens, mosses - 127, gymnosperms - 5, angiosperms - 800, fern-like - 14 and plaiceous - 3.

Fauna of the reserve

46 species of mammals are recorded throughout the territory. Among them, the desman is living here, which is included in the register of the Russian Red Book. This rare species belongs to the main protected. The usual representatives of mammals living in the reserve are: wolf, fox, bear, forest dormouse, elk, hare, otter, wild boar, marten, beaver. On the Yalchinsk and Batyrevskaya territories, there were preserved bobaks (steppe marmots).

Also, the Prisursky Reserve sheltered 190 bird species in its palaces, they nest in the forests and near the water. Of these, 13 species are registered in the Red Book. These include the white-tailed eagle, the snakehead, the burial ground, the big eagle spot, the magpie-magpie, the owl, the osprey, the gray crane, the river tern.

In local reservoirs there are 33 species of fish. In addition, there are amphibians, a total of 9 species. Besides them, there are 7 different reptiles. The most abundant here are insects, their more than 1500 varieties. Also there are rare species such as carpenter, elephant-winged octopus, large-boned parnopes, mnemosyne and others.

Where to start the tour

For tourists visiting the reserve for the first time, it is better to start your journey with the part that is located in Batyrevsky district. For example, if you go up here 200 meters from the highway, most likely, travelers will be able to observe the marmots colony. You can also walk along the paths or arrange horse riding and take a ride along the scenic routes. And after a busy trip, you can go to Alatyr, a city 40 km away from the reserve. There are also sights and historical treasures, since the settlement was founded in the 13th century.
