Spot Welding Machine: Types and Applications

A contact spot welding machine (also called a spotter) is an indispensable tool for absolutely any kind of production.

Distinguish:

  1. The device is a spot welding of high power, which has large mass-dimensions.
  2. The device of small-capacity spot welding, which has convenient compact dimensions.

Such units are widely used in factories producing various parts, in particular, in the production of cars.

The device of point welding of a compact type can be used in the process of aligning various body panels. In this case, it is additionally installed some essential elements, such as fastening system, reverse hammer and various materials consumed in the process of manufacturing the parts. The fastening system is made by means of loops and wavy wire. Such an expanded configuration makes the spot welding machine more functional and economical.

The purchase of this unit precisely in this, supplemented and improved, the configuration positively affects the technological process, allows cutting current expenses by almost 20 percent. Of course, any additional details can be purchased at retail outlets, however, it is much easier to install one device than to look for a place for three, for example.

To buy a so-called spotter and use it for normal body alignment is inadvisable, since such an action will lead to the impossibility of operatively switching the straightening devices. In addition, an unquestionable minus of use in this way will be an unacceptable large-size (which can significantly reduce the speed of the technological process). Many manufacturers came to the next solution: two types of units are bought at once: a spot welding machine with a large and low power. At the same time, each of the previously described machines has the required equipment, which allows to significantly increase the efficiency and productivity of work, as well as to increase the speed of output of finished products in this sector.

For example, the welding of body panels is carried out with the help of special mites, which are installed on high-power machines, since similar application on low-power electric machines is not able to provide the required level of quality and reliability. In addition, all kinds of shoulders for fixing ticks are installed on high-power units. This add-on must be mandatory. Less strictly relate to the presence in the basic configuration of electrodes and cooling system, which is necessary to prevent overheating and premature disconnection of the welding machine. Cooling units can be made in two variations: water and air. The water cooling system is more preferable than the air cooling option. However, high-quality spot welding machines can be produced with air cooling systems . At the same time, they perfectly cope with the tasks assigned to them, preventing unwanted overheating.

Finally, it should be noted that spotter can be produced at 220 V and 380 V. No significant differences in the characteristics of power, quality and functionality are observed.
