Prelate and Miracle-Worker Mitrofan of Voronezh. Mitrofan Voronezhsky's prayer for help in various situations

The name of the prelate and miracle-worker Mitrofan Voronezh is known all over Russia and beyond. In September (4 - according to the old and 17 - according to the new style), the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the second acquisition and transfer of the relics of the saint. Mitrophan of Voronezh, whose prayer and testament is a bright message of the pastor to his beloved flock, became famous for his piety and pastoral virtue.

Annually there is a requiem for the saint and for his parents: Priest Vasily and Mother Mary. In the Annunciation Cathedral of the city of Voronezh lie its incorrupt relics - this is the place of pilgrimage of believers. Even during his lifetime, the miracle-worker bequeathed that funeral services be performed about him and, for this purpose, he built the limit of the Archangel Michael, his patron saint.

Prayer to Saint Mitrofan of Voronezh

The future hierarch was born on November 8, 1623 in the family of a hereditary priest. About the parents of Mitrofan (in the world of Michael) little is known. He himself writes in his will that his parents were pious people and brought him up in deep faith.

Half the life of Mitrofan Voronezhsky lived like his father: he married, served as a parish priest in the village of Sidorovskoye in the Vladimir region, raised his son John. For his arrival, the priest was a pious and self-sacrificing pastor, he was ready to put his soul for every one of his spiritual children. And letters to his son are witnesses of the tender care and love of Father Michael. To this day, the prayer of Mitrophan of Voronezh about his son helps believers to save their sons from enemy hands.

Monastic life

But God's providence led him in a different way. Early widowed (then he was forty years old), priest Michael decided to devote the remaining life to serving God and goes to the monastery. He settles in the Zolotnikovo desert, where he is tonsured to monasticism with the name Mitrofan. A secluded and quiet place is to the liking of the saint and he vows to live the rest of his life in this desert and be buried there.

But, again by the will of God, three years later, at the request of the brotherhood of the neighboring Yakhroma monastery, hegumen was elected. Mitrofan of Voronezh (prayer and whose request to remain in the desert was not satisfied) is compelled to violate the vow and leave the monastery, which he regrets for the rest of his life.

In the monastery of Yakhrom, St. Voronezh had to serve ten years. This amazing person fully devotes himself to caring for the spiritual life of the brethren and for the prosperity of the monastery. Not without his assistance, many benefactors are allocating funds for the construction of a vast temple in honor of the All-Merciful Savior, the Image of the Holy Face.

On the merits of the saint and wonderworker, Patriarch Joachim (1674-1690) himself learns and elevates him to the rank of archimandrite in Makariyev-Unzhen monastery. There, with the care of Mitrophan of Voronezh, the Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos with its bell tower and refectory is being built.

Dedication to the bishops

The end of the seventeenth century was crowned with an Old Believer schism. This was a difficult and troubled time for Orthodoxy, especially felt it holy Hierarch Mitrophan of Voronezh. His prayer for the fatherland during this period was especially ardent. To educate the people, it was decided to open new dioceses, including the Voronezh. To this end, the saint is summoned to Moscow and consecrated to the bishop of Voronezh.

Upon arriving at the place, the shepherd first writes and sends out messages to the priests of his diocese. The document has survived to the present day. Turning to the priests, Father Mitrofan quotes the Gospel, where the Lord commanded the apostle Peter three times to feed his flock. By this the saint shows that there are three kinds of pastoral ministry: the word of teaching, prayers and help of the Holy Mysteries and the way of life.

As elsewhere, Mitrofan Voronezhsky begins his activity with the construction of the cathedral in honor of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, where he later builds a chapel in the name of the Archangel Michael and Nikolai the Sad.

For twenty years, the saint increased the number of churches in the diocese from 182 to 239, built two monasteries: the Ascension of Korotoyak and the Trinity of Bityugovsky.

Mitrofan Voronezhsky's prayer for employment, health and other needs

Arriving in Voronezh with sixteen bishops, a saint of God understands that at 58, he will have to work hard. The Voronezh region was recently inhabited, the city itself did not count for a hundred years, and most of the people in the district lived involuntarily, whom the emperor drove to protect the region from the attack of the Crimean Tatars. Settled here and the fugitives who left their native places because of difficult living conditions, and natives of the Dnieper, who fled from the Polish oppression.

These people did not care about morality, many wore pagan names and lived according to pagan rites. Worship did not attend, drank, the family union defiled with vices. During the Liturgy, they could find out the relationship with each other and swear loudly. Under the guise of "state troops", gangs of robbers scampered around the poor people everywhere.

The construction of temples and the prayer of the saint

The bishop's court was in such a state of affairs that the saint together with his people had to live at the inn for the first time. The saint of God himself was utterly unpretentious at home, but the poverty of the diocese condemned all other inhabitants of the bishop's house to poverty, moreover, poverty prevented him from giving generous mercy, celebrating liturgy and other services in a church adorning the church.

Thanks to his holy prayers, the Voronezh region finally began to transform, not only outwardly. The consciousness of people gradually changed and even during the life of the saint, many received healing and comfort from the priest.

Prayer to Mitrofan Voronezh about the life of the children, about getting health, about employment, and so on, as then, and now helps believers. The main virtue of a Christian miracle-worker considered prayer, because, in his opinion, it is a guide to the Kingdom of God. The saint himself loved to pray for everyone he knew, writing down their names in synodics for health and for peace. He especially honored the soldiers who fell for the fatherland. The Elder was convinced that if the soul is righteous, then it will be honored to the greater part in the Kingdom of Heaven, and if the sinful is his mercy.

Peter the Great

The saint well understood the significance and all the beginnings of the emperor for the fatherland and the people. In his sermons, the saint of God called upon the flock to help the tsar in the construction of the fleet in Voronezh, since many considered this to be in vain. He personally personally contributed to Peter the Great, giving all the funds for state needs, realizing that they are for the benefit of the homeland.

Along with this, the saint firmly watched the purity of Orthodoxy and was not afraid to enter into conflict with the tsar when he considered it necessary. In the life of the saint of God this incident is described. The Sovereign, having arrived in Voronezh, wished to see the saint in his palace, he immediately went on foot to the meeting. But, having set foot on the territory of the palace and saw the pagan statues, Mitrophan of Voronezh (whose prayer could resurrect the deceased) turned back and left without saying a word, not obeying the tsar's order. Having learned the reason for the disobedience of the saint, Peter the First became angry and ordered him to tell him that by his disobedience he could expose himself to the death penalty. But Mitrofan Voronezhsky remained firm in his convictions. In the evening the tsar heard the gospel to the All-night Vigil and was surprised, since on the eve there was no church holiday. When asked by Peter why they call the service, the saint replied that before his death he decided to prepare and with a conciliar prayer to ask the Lord for forgiveness for their sins.

The conflict was settled, Peter the First ordered to remove all the statues of the pagan gods. Only then did the saint enter his palace.

The death of the lord

In 1702, Vladyka fell seriously ill, and in August of this year he was tonsured in the schema with the name Makarii, in honor of Makary Unzhinsky, the founder of the monastery, where Mitrophan of Voronezh was hegumen. The disease was to death, he understood this and wrote in his will that he had neither the gold nor the money to leave for his own memorial and "the memories of my sinful soul." All the funds that he had, he spent on the poor, on the arrangement of the temple, for public needs.

On November 23, 1703, the saint died. When he was buried, Tsar Peter the Great himself was present, carrying the coffin of the lord with his own hand. After the funeral the tsar said that he did not have such a holy elder. The bishop and miracle-worker Mitrofan Voronezhsky was buried in the Annunciation Cathedral of Voronezh.

Miracles and help coming from the relics of the saint

The relics of the saint were imperishable, and, according to many, miracles occurred from them. In 1832, the saint was elevated to the face of the Saints. To his relics is always built a line of pilgrims. Many believers ask that the prayer to Mitrofan Voronezh about work, about healing from serious illnesses, about getting rid of poverty read next to his imperishable remains. And their request does not remain without attention - the elder is facing God and asks for everyone who appeals to him with help.
