The drug "Neopenotran" (candles), the instruction for use informs, is a combined medicine used in gynecology, the action of which is aimed at eliminating the fungus and pathogenic microorganisms. The preparation contains an antibiotic in combination with an antifungal component.

One vaginal suppository contains one hundred milligrams of miconazole nitrate and five hundred milligrams of metronidazole.

One of the active ingredients - metronidazole - is a derivative of 5-nitroimidazole, it has an antimicrobial effect and is active in relation to the simplest. Miconazole also provides a fungicidal effect. This substance disrupts the synthesis of the fungal constituents of the cell membrane, which leads to the death of the latter.

Pharmaceutical preparation "Neopenotrans" (candles), the instruction informs, is characterized by good absorbability both in patients with vaginitis, and in healthy individuals. It is noted that after using the drug in question, its active ingredient is not detected in the blood plasma. Metronidazole is adsorbed in small amounts into the systemic circulation. The process of its metabolism occurs in the liver. The half-life is six to eleven hours.

In addition, it is prescribed for fungal vaginal infections, as well as those infections, the source of which was a mixed flora, sensitive to the components of the drug in question.

It should be borne in mind that the duration of the therapeutic course and the optimal dosage is determined by the specialist individually.

Candles "Neopenotrans" are appointed to enter, as a rule, once a day before going to bed. Place the suppository in the vagina as deep as possible. On average, the course of treatment lasts fourteen days.

If there is a need to achieve a rapid therapeutic effect, daily install two candles (one in the morning and evening hours). In this case, seven days of treatment are sufficient.

In each cardboard pack with the drug is enclosed a special cap, it provides a convenient introduction of the suppository.

There is no need to adjust the dose for elderly patients.

When using the drug "Neopenotran" (candles), patients' feedback confirms this, local undesirable consequences can occur. Systemic effects, as a rule, do not develop (due to low absorption of the drug with its intravaginal use).

Local negative effects: burning, itching, perineal hyperemia. When a vagina is infected, accompanied by an inflammatory process, discomfort can be intensified on the first or third day of treatment with this medication. In a situation where side effects are severe enough, drug therapy is discontinued.

Systemic adverse effects (extremely rare): dizziness, headaches, irritability, impaired coordination of movements, perversion of taste, convulsions.

If side effects occur, consult a doctor.

The drug under consideration is not prescribed for hypersensitivity of the patient, early pregnancy, breastfeeding, epilepsy, propensity to convulsions, severe liver disease, and also in childhood.

It is noted that this medication is not recommended to be combined with alcoholic beverages. Failure to comply with this rule jeopardizes the patient's health.
