Polyurethane floors. Self-leveling polyurethane floors

Decorating a house always creates a lot of problems for a person. What materials to choose? How to create an interior? Particular attention is paid to sex at all times. It is an important element of the design of the home. Today, experts advise to abandon obsolete materials. That is why polyurethane flooring is becoming more popular.

What are polyurethane floors?

They can be divided into two groups:

  1. The system is single-component. These are the most popular mix today of self-leveling floors. It's not difficult to work with them. However, professionals prefer to abandon them, as they do not always provide a long service life.
  2. According to the finishers, it is the two-component mixtures that have the right to exist. Working with them is less complicated than it may seem to newcomers in this matter, but this polyurethane coating serves for a very long time, which can not but please the customers.

Specifications

It should be noted plasticity of the material, which makes it possible to use it even on a very poor basis. Masters are filled with a previously diluted composition surface, and filled polyurethane floors are freely poured on the surface. At the same time, it remains perfectly flat.

Polyurethane floors are very resistant to changes in temperature and moisture. This is confirmed by numerous customer testimonials. These properties allow the use of polyurethane floors in the bathroom or in the kitchen, completely without worrying that they will soon fail.

Advantages of coating

Experts know a large number of floor coverings. All of them have different degrees of dignity and disadvantages. What made the buyers pay attention to the novelty? Pour polyurethane floors have some features that distinguish them from other coatings:

  1. Non-toxic. Polyurethane floors are completely safe for human health. They can be used even in children's rooms.
  2. Shock resistance. This coating is resistant to mechanical stress. There are no scratches or cracks left on it.
  3. Low price.

We make floors with our own hands

Polyurethane flooring is produced in several stages:

  • Preparation of the foundation;
  • Grinding the base;
  • Application of the main (priming) layer;
  • Priming coat (base coat);
  • Application of the final, finishing layer.

The final result of your work largely depends on how qualitatively and accurately the preparatory work will be carried out. Therefore, on the basis of all unevenness, potholes, cracks should be removed. They are treated with a solution of dry mixtures. A special machine is used for grinding the surface.

Base layer

After the primer is applied to the surface, the base coat is applied after 8 hours . The polymer layer pours out onto the floor and is distributed over the entire area using a tool called squeegee.

All components of the polyurethane floor should be mixed immediately before starting work. The mass is thoroughly mixed until it becomes homogeneous. When applied to the floor, the composition spreads a thin, uniform layer over the surface and hardens. Therefore, this work should be carried out quickly and clearly.

While the base layer will dry out, it is necessary to walk through the surface two or three times with a special roller with long spikes (aeration). This is done in order to remove the air bubbles emerging from it. Finishing, the final layer of polyurethane lacquer, which is applied 48 hours after the complete drying of the base layer. It retains gloss and improves the chemical characteristics of the coating.

So polyurethane floors are made by own hands. As you can see, nothing complicated.

Polyurethane floor varnish

This is a protective fluid that is used to treat products made of wood, concrete, metal.

Polyurethane floor varnish consists of two components - semi-finished varnish and hardener. Components are mixed before use. This allows you to achieve the greatest efficiency.

Lacquer is used to cover parquet flooring, parquet board, coating of natural wood.

Properties of lacquer

The first formulations had a sharp odor that could cause dizziness and even a brief loss of consciousness. The change in technology made it possible to create a substance with which it is possible to work without respirators.

Resistance

This protective system for resistance to abrasion can be compared only with the paint, which marks are placed on the roads. The treated surface is not subject to any negative influence.

Moisture resistance

This is one of the main advantages of polyurethane varnish. By results of researches it is possible to tell about high stability to a moisture.

Elasticity

With the change in humidity level, the dimensions of wood and other materials change. Typical varnishes that do not have adequate elasticity, eventually become covered with cracks. In contrast, polyurethane varnishes are easily applied and quickly set. After they dry completely, a very hard coating forms on the surface, which perfectly resists temperature changes, mechanical influences, chemical elements that are abundant in detergents.

Application technology

Before applying a polyurethane lacquer, the surface should be cleaned of contaminants. It should not have any greasy stains. First, it is necessary to apply a test layer in a secluded place to make sure that the components are mixed in the correct ratio. Then proceed to apply the main layer.

Polyurethane varnish is applied in a thin layer. The floors will dry more slowly if the room has a low temperature (below +5 degrees) or high humidity.

Polyurethane paints

It is a two-component compound with a high covering ability. Paint polyurethane for the floor has high mechanical and chemical strength, forms a glossy flat surface, resistant to moisture and temperature changes.

Enamel - ecological, economical. It is often used for painting concrete floors. It is used for processing metal and wooden surfaces and even asphalt. Has, perhaps, a unique lack - very long dries. It can be applied at a temperature not lower than +5 degrees and at a humidity of not more than 75%.

Polyurethane paints are recommended to be applied in two layers. Repeated surface is processed only after the first layer has completely dried. As already mentioned, the material dries a long time - from two to fourteen days. Each manufacturer gives his time for drying, so carefully read the instructions. Two days later you can walk on the floor, but it will reach its mechanical stability after seven days, and chemical after fourteen days.

Now many companies are engaged in production of polystyrene paints all over the world. It:

  • ICI (England);
  • King Ind (USA);
  • Reichhold (Germany);
  • Kevira (Finland).

When diluting polystyrene paint, use a numbered solvent. Do not rush to use it on a large scale. Pour off a small amount of paint and try to dilute it. If there are bubbles on the surface or its temperature rises, it is impossible to use such a composition. Apply the paint in thin layers (especially diluted material). Otherwise, in a thicker layer, it can "boil". And one more tip: do not try to artificially speed up drying, by warming up the room. This type of enamel requires normal atmospheric humidity.
