Biography

He was born on December 7, 1946 in the city of Kiev. Here he graduated from the university, which today is better known as the Taras Shevchenko KNU. The specialty received at the end of the university has nothing to do with the political sphere. It is known that Mikhail Pogrebinsky studied at the physics faculty, after graduating, he received a corresponding profession - a theoretical physicist.

Work on the specialty

His work began immediately after graduation - in 1969. The choice fell on work on the specialty at one of the chairs of the Kiev University of Microdevices. Mikhail Pogrebinsky worked in this institution for more than twenty years and went from an ordinary engineer to a leading specialist, and later became the head of the laboratory, which was engaged in physical and mathematical modeling.

The first tests in politics

For the first time, the future political scientist proved himself in this role in 1989. Then he took part in the electoral campaign, which took place on the eve of the elections to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. His political and technological talents, he was able to implement, acting as an adviser to Yuri Shcherbak. Later, he took part in all presidential election campaigns held in 1994 and in 1999, and also engaged in parliamentary elections (in 1998 and 2002). Then Pogrebinsky collaborated with the SLON block and SDPU (o).

Politics as a vocation

Having started his political activities in 1989, Mikhail Pogrebinsky took part in various election campaigns. This experience pushed the political scientist to the idea of creating an independent advisory body. And already in 1993 he acts as the creator of the Kiev Center for Political Studies and Conflictology (KSCPIC), whose tasks include providing advice and conducting various levels of research.

And to this day Pogrebinsky Mikhail Borisovich is known not only as a political scientist, but also as a director and creator of the CCPIC.

A few words about the work of the center

The Kiev Center for Political Studies and Conflict Analysis is a structure that deals with expert-analytical assessment. The main activity of the organization is research. Today, the CCPIC focuses its attention on how transformation processes in Ukrainian society are taking place, how social institutions and state bodies are changing under the influence of democracy.

Among the specific activities are the following:

• Monitoring of the current situation in Ukraine in various aspects: political, social and economic;
• Analytics and forecasts of the development of events both inside the country and abroad;
• Organization of various kinds of meetings with the involvement of experts (conferences, seminars and round tables);
• Sociological research, which also includes expert surveys ;
• Consultations provided to subjects of different ownership and level;
• Development and publication of printed products containing information and analytics.

Consulting activity

It is quite obvious that while engaged in consulting activities and interacting with famous politicians and parties, Mikhail Pogrebinsky could not remain aloof.

And from 1998 to 2000 years. During Leonid Kuchma's presidency, he becomes a member of the Council of Experts dealing with domestic policy issues. Simultaneously with this activity, the political scientist becomes an adviser to the then prime minister of Ukraine - Valery Pustovoitenko.

This period of life of a well-known political scientist is characterized by the fact that he managed to try himself in the role of a politician. He was a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, an assistant to the deputy chairman of the Ukrainian parliament.

In the future, cooperation leads to the fact that Pogrebinsky occupies the post of another adviser. This time, consultations are required by Viktor Medvedchuk, who at that time headed the Presidential Administration.

In 2004, Mikhail Pogrebinsky became an adviser to Viktor Yanukovych, who at that time ran for presidency.

Cooperating with Viktor Medvedchuk, promotes his offspring, which from 2012 to 2014 was known as the "Ukrainian Choice".

Today, political analyst Mikhail Pogrebinsky actively consults and expresses his opinion on the processes taking place on the territory of the country, as well as on its relations with other states and international organizations.

Mikhail Pogrebinsky on the situation in Ukraine

Speaking, the well-known political scientist is critical of modern power and does not particularly hide his opinion. In his last articles, Mikhail Borisovich draws attention to the fact that the policy proclaimed by the government and the president of Ukraine is contrary to public opinion.

His statements are supported by the results of sociological polls. An example of such a confrontation of interests is provided by data that is one of the top three priority problems in the country. Among the answers in the first place is the war in the Donetsk region, the second is corruption in state agencies, and the third is growing unemployment. The issue of relations with Russia is not a priority. What do the powers that demonstrate? Here the situation is quite different. The issue of counteracting aggression on the part of Russia is a priority. And, accordingly, the mass media replicates this, influencing the public opinion. In addition, there are a number of issues in which such a conflict is observed.

The political scientist notes: following the logic of democratic instruments, among which there are early elections, and such an action as civil protest, the failed government must leave. But, to the greatest regret, this does not happen. The reason for the current stalemate is that, having come to power, Maidan, who calls himself a revolution of dignity, blocked even those democratic instruments that were in force under all previous political regimes - as the well-known political scientist believes.
