Bath siphon, its features

The consumer market offers a large selection of bathtubs made of cast iron, metal or acrylic. The choice of the material from which it is made, its dimensions, the shape of the bath are individual preferences, desires and financial capabilities of the buyer. The same can be said about the bathtub siphon, although, of course, the era of piping from cast iron has remained far behind, and plumbing plastic and metal devices have already come to replace them for a long time.

Sanitary bath siphon is a curved tube that performs two functional tasks. The first is the ability to discharge into the sewer system the incoming volume of water from the bath, the second - to prevent the penetration of an unpleasant smell of sewage due to the water cushion that is formed in the lower part of the bend. Depending on the purpose, there are siphons for the bathtub, sinks and shower. All varieties perform the same functional tasks, but have their own design features.

The bath siphon has a structure consisting of two tubes: overflow and drain, connected in one system. The main pipe discharges used water, and overflow prevents the flooding of the bathroom when the permissible water level is exceeded. In the familiar form, the bathtub siphon is equipped with a stopper that closes the outlet. It is enough to remove the cork, and the drainage of water will begin. A more refined design is a siphon machine equipped with a regulator located on the overflow hole. Drain the water by turning the handle, which opens the cork. Such a siphon for a bath is especially convenient in the case when it is required to drain hot water without scalding the hands at the same time.

Initially, the siphon for the bathroom was made of cast iron or brass. During the operation, due to the deposition of salts and rust, such systems "grew" to the bath, and their replacement caused a lot of difficulties, to cope with which allowed only improvised means, for example, Bulgarians. In some cases, from long-term operation, it simply began to crumble.

A modern bath siphon is made of plastic. It is simple in maintenance and installation, it is not subject to rotting, corrosion, deposits of mineral deposits. In addition, the flexibility of plastic pipes makes it possible to make a more accurate fit to the bath, regardless of its modification and size, and silicone treatment of the joints avoids leaks.

Today, the restoration of baths is very popular. This allows you to avoid unnecessary waste and completely restore the enamel or acrylic surface of the bath. When using the liquid method of restoration, the siphon for the bath is subject to mandatory dismantling. This is done to unimpeded removal of excess acrylic or enamel in a container, placed under the drain hole.

Only with the removal of the siphon can you get an absolutely smooth and even layer of restorative material on the bottom of the bath.

After the enamel or acrylic has dried, installing the siphon in its place will not take much time and effort.
