Bobbin for beginners: master class, schemes and recommendations

An ancient kind of folk art is weaving on bobbins. In Russia, this handicraft was not immediately called lace. Initially, this word was applied to any trim, which adorned the product around the edge. The weaving of products on bobbins was brought to Russia from Europe in the seventeenth century. Then the word "lace" was fixed for products woven on bobbins.

Types of lace

Laces can be either dimensional, or piece.

The first of these are measured in meters. They are narrow (1-3 cm), medium (up to 6 cm), wide (more than 6 cm). In addition, dimensional lace is distinguished in form:

  1. The gusset has a narrow edge on both sides.
  2. The agramant is notched at both ends.
  3. Edge on one side dentate, and on the other - even.

Piece of lace is a complete, whole product: tablecloth, curtain, cloak, jacket, vest, boa, scarf, collar, cuffs, napkin, etc.

Technical equipment

Weaving on bobbin begins with the preparation of tools and adaptations. They are not so much:

  1. Roller. You can do it yourself. To do this, take a piece of dense tissue. The size of the piece will depend on whether the roller is large or small. For beginners, the most comfortable with a size of 40 X 60 or 60 X 80 cm. On the long sides, it makes a hem width of 2 cm. The short sides are sewn together, and a cylinder is obtained. The file is threaded on one side and tightened. Then the roller is stuffed with filler. It can be foam rubber, hay, sawdust. After that, it should be covered with a cardboard mug and tighten the second binder. The cushion is ready.
  2. Stand. It is needed to stabilize the roller. It can be made from a rectangular piece of foam rubber. The two opposite sides should be twisted and fixed, in order to form a hollow in the middle, into which you can lay the roller.
  3. Bobbins for weaving lace are wooden sticks, which have a "neck" for winding threads.
  4. Pins. You need to fix the interlaced threads. There must be a lot of them, not less than a hundred.
  5. Crochet hook. Used for bonding yarns.
  6. A sketch is a drawing on which the points where the pins stick are shown with dots.

Threads. They can be of different thicknesses. It is best to use linen or silk, they give a minimum shrinkage after washing the product. During the training period, you can use cotton.

Winding threads on bobbin

Patience is what the weave on bobbin requires. For beginners, the very first action is winding the threads. She will become a training in this quality of character.

Bobbins are used in lace only in pairs, one thread is wound on two bobbins. This is done like this:

  • You need to take one of the bobbins with your right hand, and the thread with your left hand. The finger needs to press the end of the thread to the neck of the bobbin, and the left hand to make several turns around it to fix the thread.
  • When it is fixed, rotate the bobbin, winding the thread on the neck. The left hand must hold it, adjusting the uniformity of distribution along the entire length of the cervix.
  • After it is wound 2-3 meters, it is fixed with a loop. Bobbin after this must hang on the thread and do not unwind.
  • Then, without tearing off, unwind from the hank of another 2-3 m and then cut off. The free end is wound on the second bobbin and is also fixed with a loop. At the same time, 20 cm of thread should remain between the bobbins.

Replacement of the thread during the weaving process

If the thread ends when weaving, then you need to do the following:

  1. Unwind it by releasing the bobbin, and leave the end length of 20 cm.
  2. Screw a free space to a new one.
  3. The end is fixed with a knot on the pin, which is inserted above the weaving site by 5 cm.
  4. The left end of the old thread is connected to the new one. Double wound the thread on the bobbin and secure with a loop.
  5. Weaving continues double thread.
  6. After the new thread is sufficiently fixed, the old one can be cut and weave further one.

Weaving on bobbins: learning the basics

When weaving in both hands there is a pair of bobbins. All weaves are made by two ways of moving the instrument in hands:

  1. To transfix is to swap them in one hand. This is done with the thumb so that the right bobbin spreads across the left.
  2. To weave means to shift one bob from hand to hand. At the same time, the right bokljushka from the left hand should be thrown through the left bobbin in the right hand.

Weaving on bobbin can be of three types:

  1. Weave in a half-dozen: to twist - to weave.
  2. Weave into a full braid: to crochet - to weave - to transplant.
  3. Weave the linen: weave - crochet - weave.

Elements of lacework

There are 4 main elements of lacework: a bald patch, a linen without interwoven pairs, a linen cloth with a lap of all pairs and a linen cloth with a lap of extreme pairs.

Pleteshok performed in a half-stroke (to transfuse - weave), after each reception the threads are pulled, for which the bobbins are bred in the sides.

A towel without steam is braided in pairs of bobbins. You will need a skolk. For braiding products in several pairs it is necessary. Its width is 12 mm, the distance between the points is 6 mm. Take at least 7 pairs of bobbins.

Further weaves according to the instructions:

  1. Over the skolkom 6 pins are installed, for each pair of bobbins is hung. All of them are called shared shares, do not change their direction during weaving.
  2. To the left of the first pair of suspension chassis. It moves from left to right and from right to left.
  3. The weave starts on the left side. The left hand is taken by the running pair, and in the right hand - the first shared pair. Couples are weaved by a linen cloth (weave - perevit - weave).
  4. Chassis pair in turn is intertwined with each share.
  5. In the interweaving of the last shared and running (between them) put a pin. Twist it like this: run once, do not interchange the share, but weave it with a linen cloth (weave it - weave it - weave it).
  6. After this, the running pair is shifted to the right hand, and the weave continues to the left.

Polotnyanaka with all the pairs is done by the same braid as the canvas without the inoculation of pairs:

  1. In the process of work, the running pair is woven into a full braid (to transplant - to weave - to transplant - to weave).
  2. Under the weave of the running pair with the last share is put a pin. It sticks into a rewrite: the running pair is two times to be transplanted, once the share is transplanted and weave it - to weave it - to weave it.

A towel with a lap of extreme pairs is also weaved for the same skolku:

  1. This weave on the bobbin begins, as does the weaving of the linen with the transfer of all pairs.
  2. The second and subsequent (up to the penultimate) are weaved, like a canvas without steam.
  3. The penultimate share is weaved into a full braid (to twist - weave - to transplant - to weave).
  4. The last one is braided into a rope, as for a linen cloth with a lap of all pairs.

Cloak

For scanning, a thicker thread is used than with the main weave. To do this, you can fold the available twice. In the middle between the pins with the share threads, a pin is hung to hang the bobbins with the scane.

Weaving to the bobbin with a scanner is done in the usual way:

  • The "rope" fabric will be produced if the running gear is passed between the scan threads in such a way that the right one is above the running track and the left one under it. When the filament is returned on the other side, the cloth is rolled over and the running thread is passed: the right thread is on top, the left one is under the running thread.
  • Fabric "pigtail" is obtained if you take not one, but two pairs of bobbins. The running pass is in this case between two pairs of scans, when the return filament is returned, the scans are transposed not in one direction but in different directions.

Technique of a coupling lace

Coupling weaving of laces on bobbins for beginners is the execution of a little cherry. This is the name of the main element of this lace. She is weaved by linen, often decorated with a scane. And the place of docking here is connected by stitches, which are made with a crochet hook.

Weaving with bobbin: master class of Vilyushka

Piece products are often made from a single vinyushka, which forms a variety of patterns. Mastering the skill of its weaving is the basis of learning lacework.

  • Prepare a shoe for braiding on bobbin.

  • We wind the threads.

  • We hang bobbin on pins.

  1. Plait a plain cloth before turning.

  • Turning at the same time begin to perform, leaving the running pair, turning the extreme share in the running.
  • Returning, the former extreme share trains the former running and, in turn, is left alone, and the old chassis is sent to twist the share.
  • Alternately, the extreme share becomes a running one, until the turn is over. In the place of turning, pins are not stuck.

  • Coupling is performed at the place of docking of the Vilyushka after the rotation. To do this, remove the pin, the crochet hook is inserted into the loop from above, the thread is hooked and pulled out.

In the large loop formed, pass the bobbin, and tighten the string. The weaving continues with the running pair that participated in the coupling.

  • Next, you need to weave on a skolk.

We hope that the step-by-step instruction proposed in the article will help beginner lace makers make their first elegant products.
