The pharmaceutical drug "Momat" (the instruction informs that its international non-proprietary name is mometasone) is included in the clinical and pharmacological group of glucocorticosteroids used locally.

The medication is available in the form of a cream. One hundred grammes contain 0.1 grams of mometasone furoate, the active active ingredient. Among the auxiliary ones are white soft paraffin, beeswax white, propylene glycol monostearate, stearyl alcohol, cetomacrogol, propylene glycol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methylparahydroxybenzoate, and purified water.

The drug "Momat", the instruction for use includes these data, it has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and anti-exudative effects (due to the presence of mometasone - a synthetic glucocorticosteroid).

A slight absorption of the drug was recorded. This drug is prescribed for the treatment of inflammatory phenomena and itching in dermatosis, susceptible to glucocorticosteroid treatment. It is contraindicated if the patient is sensitive to its components or to glucocorticosteroid agents. In addition, the drug "Momat" (instruction warns) should not be used for rosacea, perioral dermatitis, bacterial, viral or chicken pox, fungal skin infection, tuberculosis, syphilis, post-vaccination reactions, breast-feeding.

With special care, it is recommended to apply the medication on the skin of the face, flaking skin, under occlusive dressings.

Since the ability to penetrate glucocorticoid agents through the placental barrier has been established, prolonged treatment with the drug in question (as well as large dosages) is undesirable during the period of gestation in order to avoid adverse effects on the developing fetus.

The medication is for external use only. A thin layer of it is applied to the problem areas once during the day. The duration of the course of treatment is determined depending on the effectiveness of the drug for a particular patient, as well as the manifestation and severity of side effects.

The drug "Momat" (cream), the patients' reviews confirm this, very rarely can cause irritation of the skin, burning, itching, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne, hypopigmentation, perioral or allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, signs Atrophy of the skin, striae, sweating. Very rarely develops Cushing's syndrome, adrenal insufficiency and other undesirable manifestations, characteristic of glucocorticosteroid preparations of systemic action.

Overdose of the drug is accompanied by oppression of the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal (including secondary adrenal insufficiency). Treatment is symptomatic, if necessary, the electrolyte balance is restored. The drug, of course, is completely canceled. However, with prolonged therapy, cancellation should be carried out gradually.
