Can I make sandwich panels myself?

Building a house is a process that every year requires not only more and more time, but also money. Not everyone can master this occupation. That's why many of those who are seriously interested in new technologies, often recall the sandwich panel. With their own hands it is quite realistic to do.

Choosing the best

Decide on the material from which you will make sandwich panels with your own hands. You can use galvanized metal, any particle board or natural wood. In any case, the sheets should be at least 6 millimeters thick.

And there are advantages and disadvantages to almost every option. For example, with a tree it's pretty easy to work, but it also burns great. Good plastic sandwich panels, but the source material for their production is quite difficult to get. Galvanized metal roads, but it does not rust and is not prone to fungi and rodents. However, to work with him you need special tools.

Types of insulation

Without a normal insulation, all sandwich panels (their own hands do not so difficult) have no value. Quite cheap and widely used is polyurethane foam, expanded polystyrene, ordinary basalt wool or even glass fiber.

The amount of filler depends only on what you need a house for. If you plan to make a warm shelter, then the layer of insulation can not be less than five centimeters.

Production process

It is necessary to paste the film on the side of the panel that will be located outside (you can paint them with liquid rubber). In general, the protective layer is selected based on the characteristics of the material itself. To dry the finished panels should go no less than a day. If you have applied three or more layers of rubber, you will have to wait at least three or four days.

Then gently apply glue on the surface of the panel, which was not covered with a protective compound. It is best to use the composition on a polyurethane basis. Put on it a layer of insulation, gently distributing its thickness.

Apply the same layer on the other panel, place it evenly on the insulation layer. Making a sandwich panel with your own hands, you need to be as accurate as possible, since the production flaws will make themselves felt when you start building.

After you have formed the future material, it is necessary to put it under the press for several hours. Pay attention to the fact that the load must be evenly distributed over the entire surface. After pressing the panel must be dried, and the duration of the process should be at least 30 hours.

Making a sandwich panel with your own hands, do not forget to trim the excess insulation, which will inevitably hang from the sides. If there is a need, the finished material can be cut into sheets of the sizes you need.

Some remarks

Be sure to remember that when applying the adhesive, the layer should be distributed evenly over the entire surface to be treated. Otherwise, it may happen that the panels spread out.

But what about the price of the process? Consider the simplest wooden sandwich panels. Price shows that one square meter will cost you three hundred rubles, or even less.
